Replacement Tires

Im looking for a good set of tires to put on my dually, I do a lot of heavy hauling and a lot of miles, Im looking for something good on road and do good off road as well, I was looking at the bridgestone dueller a/t, it seems to get good reviews on tirerack.com but I prefer to get first hand info here thanks for the response

and by the way I did search the threads on this subject but I couldn't find any recent ones, and since new tires are coming out all the time I figured I'd try a new one

I have dueller's on my wifes jeep liberty. They are great tires other than they wear really bad. Could partially be from the short wheelbase but My dad has them on his truck and they are doing the same thing. but like before he doesn't treat them very nice either. He carries about 3k worth of tools in the bed and most of it is behind the wheels so his fronts are always chewed up.... That being said, I dont' think they are making them for us yet in a 235/80/17. I put a full set of michelin ltx m/s's on my truck back at 32000 miles since the stock good-fer-a-year gs/a's wore out. I rotated them all around to get the max out of them and with the michelins I haven't rotated yet and have 61000 miles on now with half tread on the rears and practically no wear on the fronts. I did this on purpose since I plan on only buying the 4 rears next time. The fronts should be good for a few sets of rears like this. Let me know what you think. just a side note... I punish my tires non-stop I tow a 9k trailer all day everyday and have 10k on it a good majority of the time. And I am not nice with the throttle. I don't like being passed by traffic from light to light........ If I was nicer they would probably last twice as long but oh well Tires are cheap.... $175. each!!!

thanks underwood, according to tirerack.com, the dullers are available for our trucks and they have probably the best reviews of any, it sounds like our driving habits are about the same and real similar work habits, appreciate the response

yes they have them for the single wheel trucks but not for our duallys. I looked on tirerack.com and couldn't find them in a 235/80/17... Let me know where you found them in that size??

Bridgestones are excellant tires, but, Michelins would be your best bet from what I've read around here, and especially for what your going to be doing.

A buddy of mine recently put Michelins on his dually and is very happy with them. I will be putting Michelins on both the truck and the trailer when replacement time comes. I always had good luck with them.

I doubt I will put michelins on my trailer anytime soon, I baught a set of bf goodrich commercial t/a's and they are awesome for a trailer that sees alot of heavy abuse and side wall abuse. The stock el-cheapo's on my trailer lasted about 20k but the gfb's are showing very little wear with close to 60k on them. I don't think at this rate I will ever have to replace these tires again. I think they will probably outlast the trailer ha ha. It doesn't seem to be holding up quite as well as I had hoped. But I have been suprised to see it handle the things I have seen it handle so far!!

underwood, I believe we can put the bigger size on our drw, but i didnt take the chance I ordered Firestone Transforce A/T (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....artnum=38R7TAT)
not quite as aggressive as I wanted but Ill try them, cheap too, $135.00 mounted and balanced

I have 265/70/17 michelin's beat the heck out of them. 30,000 plus miles can't hardly tell there worn. The Goodyears wore out quick on mine.Got 40,000 out of them. Went to wally world and bought 7 michelins for $1,500 with road hazard warranty and all.

I am very pleased with my TOYO HTs
Believe it or not they are better in snow, mud and on ice then the Goodyears I had. The goodyears were a much more agressive tread.

I can air up the TOYO's to 70 rear and 75 front whereas the Goodyears were terrible and bounced at any psi.

I was a die hard Michelin owner for years...I was going to put them on this time but it was suggested I wait and try them. Glad I did.

They are in my gallery. Like I said...not very agressive yet very impressive.

Scotty

candn, Let us know how they handle and wear. That's a great price on any E load range tire let alone a 17". ks

Check out the Cooper Discoverer s/t. Good on the hiway.Towed a lot of miles with them rain or snow & they are great in mud even draging a 10000 pd. trailer.
