New Tires

I have a 2005 Quad Cab, I'm running on Firestone Destination M/T's 265/70 17 (stock size) tires. They need to be replaced, I'm think of going with Mickey Thompson's, Cooper's, Dick Cepek's. I dont go off road, but I like a beefy tire. What are you guys running on and are you happy with them.

You said beefy: I'm running 285-75-17 Toyo Mt's.

I just installed my third set of B F Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A's stock size. I like the way they handle on the truck. The first set gave me 70k miles. The price was right at Sams Club, $760 installed including tax.

Mickey Thompson MTZ 275/70 R18 On DCII rims. Great traction, Great looks, road noise not as bad as I thought it would be, but very noticable.

Sounds cool. Can you post some pics of your rims and tires? I was thinking of getting some CD II's myself.

I assume you had problems with the Michelins, what kind of problems did you have?

Thanks,

If you are asking me .. The stock Michelin`s were fine if did not have any slick surfaces mine dry rotted after only 2.5 years and I only towed my boss`s bobcat once and I rotated them every 7500 miles and ran proper air pressures in all tires.. One thing I did noticed that when there was a little snow and I mean 2-4 inches my truck`s a$$ end would snap free and I am not trying to and I had to use 4 wheel drive to get stable again, but one thing can say about the Michelin`s they stuck like glue on DRY pavement and it went well but add a little moisture and all bets are off !!!!!

The second set of BFG's that I put on my truck was 3 new tires and the spare which had never been on the ground. I marked the old tire by putting a chrome sleeve on the valve stem, I wanted to see if the tires would wear the same. The older tire had slightly more wear but had no dry rot even though it was 8 years old.

The new set that I just put on the truck were just 2 weeks old.

It is easy for our trucks to break traction in 2 wheel drive on any slick or snow covered road regardless of the type or brand of tires we have on it.

I've been using Firestone Hwy. on my 3500 dually since the original Good Years. Get great mileage out of them. They are a lot less expensive than the GYs. They are highway treads so are not great in snow. Will hold as long as you don't punch it. Not enough winter here in East TN to warrant a set of grippers and they don't last on the highway.
