New tires for the 06

Hey guys,
I bought another dually and I've been thinking about bigger tires. I run 35's on my 03 dually but I want this truck to be a little bit more sane. (I may even keep a muffler on the thing)... Anyway I want taller tires but not as wide as 315's. I would like 285 75's but not sure who makes them. I think Toyo does but is there anyone else?
Thanks guys,
Topper

Topper, I am assuming that you have 17's? If so, you got Pro Comp, BFG, Mickey Thompson, Nitto, Goodyear, Buckshots, Coopers, and probably more if you look. Depends on how long you want 'em to last. Nitto has a LT285/70R17E Dura Grappler with a 60,000 mile warranty.

He stated he was looking for 285/75 tires, not 285/70. Toyo A/T's and M/T's are the only tires I know of that come in a 285/75R17.

BFG, Goodyear, Mastercraft, list 285/75/17's on their website. I'm sure others sell them if you ask.

Mastercraft:

Search ResultsTire Size: 285/75R17
There are currently no listings for this product.

Goodyear:

Searching by size, selecting 285 / 75 results in only a 16" tire being available.

BFG:

Results same as Goodyear (only 16" tire available in 285 / 75).

So I have to ask, what are you looking at??

Why don't you do a "Google Search" and quickly prove me wrong since it's far easier to prove something exists than for me to search all of it and prove it doesn't.

The person that put this caption on the picture is wrong. Look at the full size image of the Mastercraft and read the size on the sidewall. That is a 285/70R17 tire, not a 285/75R17.

No sweat, but I don't think you will be able find anything but the Toyos even with your wife's expertise. You'll see the occasional person stating otherwise (mistakingly) as you posted a pic of and BroncoHound pointed out.

I wish I was wrong because I should be getting those exact Mastercraft Courser CT tires on in about two weeks and I'd prefer 285/75 over a 285/70. I had a previous set and they wore as well as or better than these Toyos I got now.

It would be pretty odd for a tire company to make a 285/70 *and* a 285/75 in the same size don't you think? And I see lot's of 285/70 series tires ...

All forums must not be as reliable as this one! Sorry about the info. Must have been reading typo's like this one on different forums when I googled that tire size. I called every tire shop in town today asking for that size, and your right, I'm wrong. Let me ask you this. Is the 100 or so pound weight rating difference gonna make a big deal? Only talked to one knowledgable person today. He said a 285/70/R17 is equal to a 285/75/R16. Why are Toyo and M/T the only companies that make these tires? If they were in demand, I'm sure more people would be wanting us to open our wallets up and buy the 75 tire?

The 285/75R17 tire size is relatively new to the market. I think Toyo is simply the first to offer and, if their sales in that size reflect positive numbers, other brands will be joining suit.

Now, what i would positively KILL for is a 285/80R17 in load range "e" rated at ~4000lbs. per tire.

That would be ideal, 35" tall and not too wide. Must be a reason they don't make it but it would sell well I think.
