New plow install caused blown module ?
New plow install caused blown module ?
I just had a Ford dealership try to install a Blizzard plow on my 06 Ram 2500 diesel Megacab. After the install I had the engine service, abs, and brake warning lights on the instrument panel on. The speedometer isnt working and the electronic 4-wheel drive won't engage. They couldn't figure it out so sent it to a Dodge dealership and they said a module had blown, and claim they've seen this twice before on a plow install.
Anyone ever heard of this? What module controls all those things?
The Ford dealership is paying for the repair.
Thanx, Mike.

Assuming you are running an extra set of headlights/turn signals with the plow, I wonder if this might be at least part of the problem...

I had my left headlight go out on my 06 when the light tower was installed for the plow.
It contains the extra set of headlights and turn signal to make these visible when the plow is installed.
The first time it happened, I was told by the dealer that my bulb blew, which seemed really strange at the time.
The second time it happened, maybe two months later, I knew something was not right.
To the dealer again, this time they tell me that my whole plow system needs to be re-wired, and there is nothing they can do about it...but they did reset the code, at no charge.
Called the guy who installed my plow, told him what was up, and a long story short, the solution was L.E.D.'s in the light tower.
Have not had a problem since...

I have a Boss Vee plow. The day that I took the truck home after the plow install, I got a CEL, which turned out to be the thermostat rationality issue. The next week I had the truck in for the latest flash update to fix this issue. The service tech told me that there were a # of codes stored that were related to the plow install...when they cut into the wiring to hook up the lights...nothing to be alarmed about because the codes weren't recent/ongoing.
i have a boss v as well and had issues with the truck lights not working, turned out the TIMP module did not like the added wiring and all the connectors that the boss wiring harness adds.
So, to fix all this i added a set of turn signal relays which is recommended by boss. the lights were still giving me problems so out came the wire cutters and after studying bosses wiring schematic i was able to rewire the harness and added 2 incab switches for the high and low beams on the boss plow. i used bosses relays that are part of the truck side harness. this way no part of the plow goes thru the trucks wiring, since it has been proven that it cant handle it.

I installed the Meyers EZ Mount Plus from my Excursion to mu CTD and had no problems at all. The truck accepted all the wireing just fine. I think things go better when you do it yourself. When this plow was installed on my Ex tree years ago I had to go back to the shop about seven or eight times.

You will be fine plowing with your truck if that's what you are inquiring about!
I've got a megacab and plow with it, no problems.
Just take the proper steps to keep the front end from sagging, have some good E rated tires, and most importantly don't hang a huge plow from it or plow with reckless abandon.

I got a Quad Cab Shortbox, no problems whatsoever. Head over to

I just passing along what I read...nothing more.
