The 285/75R17 SIZE is available and in stock most places in the Toyo A/T and Toyo M/T. However I don't think they are to the street yet in the Nitto Dura Grappler.

According to Discount tire direct, the 285/75/17 Nittos aren't even due to be released until the 25th.

They didn't even have pricing a couple days ago.

Per my previous post - that kinda matches what the tire shop I've been dealing with says.... It'll be a couple of weeks before they arrive at their store.

Luckily I still have a few miles left on the OEM BFG's. Those things are gonna make it to 70K.

I was told recently by someone that should know that the Toyo Open Country M/T are as quiet as a BFG A/T. How can this be true with an aggressive tread like that? These tires are VERY expensive and I'd like some other opinions before forking out that kind of money for tires that would howl like my Dunlop Mud Rovers.

UPDATE: I got a call from the tire shop - tires are in and I'll get them on the truck tomorrow (Friday). I'll post pics and first impressions in the next couple of days. I need to clean the truck up a bit before posting the pics too...

OH - for those of you wondering about where to get these tires - I just went to the Nitto site and did a dealer search to find the shop I'm dealing with right now. It took 'em a few days to find the tires in the new 285/75/17 size, but I've been really happy with their follow-up so far. We'll see how well they do with the install/alignment, etc. tomorrow.

I can tell you I'm very happy with mine in the 20" size. May not help you, but they so far are proving to be better than my Terra Grapplers. And truthfully grip is surprisingly good in mud and gravel, and they don't sling rocks near as bad as the Terras did. Good choice for many of ya'll!!!

Well, the tires are on, and the truck looks WAY better. I've only driven about 30 miles, so I have to get used to the new shifting requirements. I'm going to the dealer on Monday to get the speedo recalibrated ($50), and I'll get some pics posted as soon as I can. I can't do it right now 'cause it's raining and I want the truck to look at least halfway decent. I'll also post the new mph/gear/rpm readings once the speedo has been calibrated.

As far as the drivability is concerned, they seen to ride much smoother than the OEM BFG's, but those tires had 67K on them, so I'm not sure if that's a fair comparison. The taller sidewall doesn't seem to affect the handling much, if at all. I was running 70 psi in the old ones and the tire shop put 65 psi in the new ones. I'll play with the pressures for a while and see what I like.

Put the $50 towards a Smarty and correct it yourself, along with the performance and economy gains.

Ha - nope - Ike is meandering it's way through our area, and I've found a couple of spots where I need to apply some silicone sealer to the house :-( so I haven't been outside to clean up the truck or take any pics.

I'll see how it looks in the morning or later this afternoon.
