New dually review

Hello everyone. Last week after what seemed like to long a wait I recieved my truck. I figured I would provide a review since this truck is not common to members. The truck I ordered is an 04.5 3500 dually with the cummins and the six speed, four wheel drive with 4.10 ratio, Larime package and all options but the gps radio and bed liner/and bed cover. What is rare about this truck is that it is a REGULAR CAB.
I now have close to one thousand miles on the truck driving it in Michigan where out roads are nothing great. The truck is absolutely amayzing. It rides fairly smooth except for roads with raised expansion joints where it jostles you a bit but that is life I suppose.
Driving a Dually does take some getting used to as far as how wide the truck is but with some practice it is not to bad at all. A friend that has lots of experience with duallys suggested I occasionally look in each mirror at the lines on the road as I am driving down the road and by doing so I can judge how centered I am in my lane. This seemed to help a lot since at first I was hugging the left side of my lane not wanting to run the right side of the truck off the road.
There is some things to give up I noticed such as parallel parking and tight parking spots but hey we are Americans and I am guessing that most of us can use some extra walking from that distant parking spot.
Fuel milage is as follows 14 for hwy driving at 70 mph and 17 at 58 mph backroad driving. As I always hear after break in it will likely get better.
I will list the things I wish the truck came with from Dodge.

Back up sensors like I see on Fords
Memory seat like Chevy has
A telescoping steering wheel
The side step bars standard since it is a pretty tall vehicle to get into
That about does it, I can only say that this truck is incredible and seems to amayze a lot of people at how quiet the engine is as well as how quiet the cab is and the ride surprises them as well since it is a lot smoother than they seem to expect.

Can you post some pics?

As you can see from my sig, I have a dually also, except with an automatic and four doors, so we're the same , but different.

You'll find you ocassionally run a wheel over a curb coming out of tight parking lots.....ahem.....

Id be interested in pics as well. Might I ask why you went with a reg cab? I like the room of my quad cab, long bed/.. but it is like a barge when it comes to parking it

To answer the question about why I got a regular cab. Well one I wanted the eight foot bed but not a vehicle that was over 20 feet long. The next reason came down to some logic that my wife and I went over a few times. She wanted the four door to haul the family around and I asked her when was the last time I carried four people (our family size) in my car? Neither her nor I can remember when that was. We always take her car for family stuff, or more so on trips we almost always take the motorcycles.
My wife and kids are slobs and I am clean. The ideal of getting my nice new truck all nasty from family members that wont keep it clean would drive me nuts!!!!
I did make one concession and that was if she wanted the four door I would get it if she paid the difference which was arround 3000 dollars. She didnt seem to take me up on that offer so that is why I have a regular cab.

Ill try to get some pictures here in a bit.

I haven't seen one of those yet. I measured mine this weekend and it is 21' long! That's about 3' longer than my garage!

The first 600 cummins I drove was a 3500 dually reg cab 6spd with 3.73 gears and power nothing lol. Truck ran great and really stuck to the road.

Did you get the RB4 Nav radio??? That is the one I have and I really don't like it.
The RB1 was not available when I ordered mine.

At first I really wanted a regular cab...just for the looks. I think they still look the best. My wife kept telling me I'd be sorry if I didn't get a QC. In the long run, I think she was right. I love the space the quad cab has to offer. And after you get used to it, it doesn't seem all that big. At least it fits in my garage.
