New ball joints now its squirrelly

Truck is an '03 with 104K on it. Drove good and straight but had a clunk I could feel in the floorboard. I had some up/down movement on each wheel when I jacked it up and put a pry bar under them so we diagnosed it with bad ball joints. We put Moog non-adjustable uppper and lower and now the up/down movement is gone but its all over the road. One thing I did notice is my front sway bar end link boots are torn. Could this be the root of the problem? Other than that, everything else is nice and tight.

There are some lengthy posts regarding this issue with Moog ball joints. Do a search, you will find some disturbing facts about them. I myself learned a few things.

I have Moog's on my '01 so I thought they wouldn't be a problem. I did a search and it does seem like its a hit or miss with Moog and that they might loosen up after some miles. I'll keep my eye on them and re-grease them next month and see what happens.

My moogs are bad... they do the same thing. I had a shake at about 50-65, and the bottom OEM's were gone, so I put the moog's on there. It fixed that, but now I play pin ball with the left and right lines...

How long have you had them on? Did it get better with time?

About 4 months now... no better. I've been meaning to grease them again, just have not got around to it.

It's manageable, but not great...

What worries me is this is my wife's truck and the kid hauler. I might put her in my truck for a while and let me work the bugs out of her's.

seriously i think you guys are crazy. ok i had some of the issues you guys are describing with a whole front end rebuild so i thought to myself lets try some things here. i went and got the truck aligned you should do this even after ball joints !!!!!!!!!!!! also i had new tires installed which always have a break in time so after i got a 500 or so miles on the thing i was like ok its still here so lets check a couple other things. tire pressure boom and that was the ticket it got a lot better i ran too much at first took some out and it got a lot better then i got new shocks and that made a world of difference. also you guys have to realize that with your old worn out ball joints it wears on your tires as well so if the thing wanders and darts all over the place it could definitly be the tires not to mention the camber is out of adjustment for the tires then. there is a guy on here with the expensive xrf ball joints that was having the same issues. also giant tires do not help as well. im just sharing my experience so hopefully it helps
