Re:New 2003 problem

Small 26 gallon tank is only on 1500s. All Heavy Duty LBs have 35 gal. tank, Heavy Duty SB has 34 gal tank. Since the vertical dimension of Heavy Duty is about 2" higher than 1500s, I would think a tank made for 1500 would have different mounting hardware and would be configured so it wouldn't fit a Heavy Duty. There would be fill spout problem as well as fuel pickup location being different. That is what alerted me to a modified tank. It also might be a bladder or plastic foam placed in the tank as a joke.

Father-in-law bought a new Dodge in the 60s. There was a terrible rattle in left rear door. Dealer finally took off the door panel. Inside was a handful of machine bolts. A note was taped to inside of panel, "Bet you had a hard time finding this one".
Strange things happen where strange people work.

Anyone else had this happen?<br><br>Outta the clear blue today, whilst we were checkin' out our elk hunting territory and trying to burn off fuel to get below the 1/8 tank to make sure the &quot;Low Fuel&quot; light is not coming on so the dealer would not think I am nuts when I show up for my appt. next week............<br><br>My trip computer goes 4 paws up like a dead skunk in the middle of the road!<br><br>Only thing it would show was the compass directions, the hours driven and nothing else. After about a half hour of playing with it, turning it off, on and whatever. I stopped the truck, turned off the key, and started the truck again. Viola! All the info came back to the overhead 'puter<br><br>This has never happened to me before and was curious if this is &quot;normal&quot; or?<br><br>Like I said before, I love the Dodge chassis (proven) and the Cummins (way proven) but am scared to crap about all the computer chips that are involved to run the darn thing :-(<br><br>Hunter

They run on MS Windows. Did you expect them to do anything other than quit for no good reason? You just reboot - - which means shut it off for 30 seconds, hit the Start button and reselect which program you want to run.

Hey, maybe you found something about those smart computers Dodge has installed. It was &quot;bird *******&quot; for you. What it is telling you is there is a moosey thingy right there in the woods. Stop, get out the rifle in your back window, and go chase that thing. Wow, we never expected those kind of hidden accessories in our trucks. Wonder if it will sniff out gators???? How about that, Boss Hog. We could go gator hunting without wandering all through the swamps chasing off moccasins. Now that would be different.<br><br>Bob

Hunter, sounds like Bill Gates is up to no good again. Wonder if Microsoft.Com has a download to fix this bug. <br><br>Sounds like you might have a bad computer chip, only works part time. The fact that it resets when the switch is off incidates a micro chip problem. ??? <br><br> Chip problems usually show up in the first 20 hours of operation. once bad chips are replaced they seldom cause problems, very reliable for several years of use.

Re:New 2003 problem

I am thinking that also, as the computer will not allow my low fuel light to come on, dealer seems to think that the 'puter was the problem from the get go on the low fuel light, and now with this new glitch showing up you probably are dead bang on!<br><br>Anyway, they got it down for 'puter check when they change my mirrors out short short. Anxious to get towing!<br><br>Hunter

Reese brackets should be in on Tuesday, 18K Hidden Hitch goes in on Wednesday or Thursday. Jordan should have something for me this week to try for mounting my sensing wire for the brake controller. If not, I will mount it temporarily and not move the pedals until the new bracket is ready. Then, look out world. Here we come. I still need to repack wheels and check brakes on the fiver. It has finally cooled down here sufficiently so you feel like doing something like that. It will be &quot;DOWN&quot; to the 70's this week. Might make me shiver when I dive in the pool. <br>Nothing like the river in Yosemite though, right Sierra. Man, that is the coldest water in the world.<br><br>Bob

Re:New 2003 problem

FiverBob, sounds good. Be sure to reset that computer so you get idea of towing mileage. We'll want a report. Your fiver is a big one. Once you start towin you won't want to quit. Suppose we could light a fire under Hunter?

Sierra,<br><br>Put a moose out there in a field - - tell Hunter he can't shoot it unless he tows his trailer out there and camps two days. He will do anything to go shoot Bambi or that moose. <br><br>Bob

Re:New 2003 problem

FiverBob, My oldest son lives in Merlin, OR, just North of Grants Pass. He is a bow-hunter. I could have used him here at my place. There are too many homes around for hunting with long-gun. Bow-hunter can hunt most places. About one-half mile from my house this eve, a 4 point buck was starting to cross the road in front of me, less than 30 ft away. He stopped and had a stare-down with my Ram. Hunter would drool. I've had bucks so close in my yard could have ropped them.
