need help with these seats

I gotta fix or ditch these electric seats on my 04.

I now have 12,000 on this, and after about 1 hour in the saddle and sitting on the metal brackets they call seats my buns hurt. After two hours I gotta get out.

Has anyone replaced these seats? any aftermarket ones available? Has anyone modified the seats.

I can't believe they designed these so you sit on the metal seat bracket. They are ok for just driving around town, but any extended trip and I'm hurting. I'd rather not get a cushion, but would rather get this problem fixed or replaced. help!

I wonder if you have a defective seat or are others having this problem also.

I do not feel any metal ridge, etc, in mine and think my seats are excellent and better than what is in my 01.

I've gotta agree with Aaron T, these seats are great. If I start to feel bad in one postion then I just play with the buttons to change the position. I've sat in the same seat for 8k miles going accrass country and the only bad things I can say is that it will put you to sleep and they don't recline all the way

If you really want to change out the seats then ask the dealer for a set of the SRT 10 seats. They are a direct replacement except for the loss of heat
If you wait until the SRT 10 Quad cab comes out then you get the whole set I'm thinking about it but I do like my HEATED Seats

I think they changed seats in 04. But I can't believe I have a defective seat. It looks like a bad design on the electric seat that you go thru the springs and are sitting directly on the metal frame.

I'll be at the dealer tomorrow, I'll check it out. Would sure be interested if others are having this same problem.

My seats are great. I've got about 24K on my truck with 3 good long trips (DFW, TX-ME, TX-Den, TX-Moab, UT) andI only stopped when I wanted to, not had to because I was uncomfortable.

I do like the SRT-10 seats and am going to look into them as replacements, depending n the cost.

I drove my 04.5 to Alabama from NC, which is a 635 mile drive. I thought the seats were comfortable. I did have to change the position of the seat bottom to tilt it foward a little once when I felt like the circulation was being cut off to my legs.
I do think the leather on my old 01 felt better. The leather in the 04 feels harder.

Well, it must be only the heated seats. I drove 1400 miles on Saturday and my new seats put me in heaven. I never had to reposition due to circulation problems or soreness, just boredom.

Having to adjust the seat may be a sign that I am getting old.

I had the same problem you have with the seats in my '03. After 1000 miles I made a 3 hour trip one way and was ready to scream from the pain of sitting on the frame under the cushion. Went to the dealer before I went home.

I was sent to an uphosterers shop and the seat was dissasembled. We found that the frame is 14 inches wide and the older seats has a frame width of 16 inches. Nothing we did could make the seats comfortable.

The dealer tried to find an after-market seat but the new designs were just too new and nothing was available. He had an '02 1-ton and he offered me the seats from it but he could not install them because of safety reasons. This I understood and I said that I could do it. He gave me the seats and I made a flat mounting plate from 1/8 inch steel and was able to mount the '02 seats with no problems.

Now I ride in comfort as I had in my '97.

I got to keep the original seats.

My seats are great but I do remember someone else on this site complaining about their seats a couple of months ago. I have a 12 hour commute when I go home so I have spent several hours in the seat and it is as comfortable an any vehicle I have ever had.

No complaints on the seat here, Just got through a 5,000 mile vacation trip where we put up to 11 hours a day in the truck, with occasional breaks, and never really had an issue. The tush does go numb after a while, but unless you got air-rides, I think that's to be expected.

the upholstry shop is a good idea, maybe they could beef up the springs for you?

Come on, These seats SUCK, BIG TIME! Dodge totally missed the mark on this one. The leather must be a little more fim as I don't hit or bottm out on the rails and I'm 200#. The seats are definetly uncomfortable on a road trip. They are stubby in the legs and not to comfy in the lumbar even tho they have lumbar. Not to bee a smart a$$, but those of you who say they're great haven't been in a truck with good seats. These are the worst I've ever experienced in my life! The designer must have been on Crack!

I like mine...upgraded leather on a SLT. Maybe it is just a "personal thing"?

They do stink!

45 Auto you hit your target!

I have trouble with my seats as well. To much lower lumber support! The back needs to be flatter like a ford superduty seat! Know those are some comfy seats! I will have to do some expermenting with my seats to see if I can solve the problem. Hope someone comes up with a solution!
