Need facts

Alright, so here's my situation: I have a friend that is currently looking at either a Chevy, Ford, or Dodge heavy duty truck. He wants a diesel with an automatic tranny. I am trying to convince him that Dodge is the way to go but I'm having a hard time coming up with the cold hard facts that say Dodge is better. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re:Need facts

Well, I was a FORD man myself, but when it comes to $$$$$ at $4,300.00 BUCKS DIFFERANCE ( SAME TRUCK ) between the two I had to break away from FORD, because they didn't want to deal and there was no rebate, besides FORD is having promblems with the 6.0, oil leaks mostly. I liked the ' TOW-MODE " that Ford has on thier new tranny but not $ 4,300.00 worth.

Forgot this, have your buddy stand beside a Ford 6.0 AT IDLE then check out the new 5.9 HO " THE FORD IS NOT EVEN IN THE SAME BALLPARK, Noise driving there still is no comparison, the DODGE has it.

And yes I did shop around....and still bought the Dodge. Good luck on his/your purchase.

Re:Need facts

Here are some inescapable facts:

1) Dodge is the only heavy duty pick-up on the market that comes stock with the Cummins turbo diesel engine;

2) Cummins is the largest producer in the world of diesel engines over 200 HP (there is a reason for this - they are the best). ;D

Re:Need facts

Hey I would just tell him to look at the diesel-stop web site and see how many people are having problems with their FORD PS and that should fix it. I did that to a buddy of mine and he is driving a 2500 right now. Also there is a Duramax site that shows all the problems with the fuel pumps and the tranny problems.

Re:Need facts

empirical data: Litre per litre, the 5.9l Cummins ISB engine produces more torque , and more horsepower.....Oh and it's heavier too, and heavy=good ;D

Re:Need facts

Please, somebody, fill me in on these fuel pump and tranny problems the Duramax is having? We have sold as many or more Duramax's in the past three model years as we have Dodge/Cummins and truthfully, as much as it hurts to say this, I think the D/A's have had a better record than than the Dodge/Cummins. We have not had to work on one of those dam things yet. I have had five of them myself, and I literally try to break em. I beat the tar out of em and I can't get one to break. Fact is, the Duramax/Allison set-up has been a good drivetrain. Anybody who says different is a loyalist, or doesn't have correct info. I watch the number of trucks we sell and I watch to see how many of them come back for major service. And truthfully, I think the Duramax has just as good or better record in the last three years they have been in production than the Dodge/Cummins trucks from the last three model years. I am not a loyalist, as anyone can see by looking at my sig. I have had more Cummins powered trucks than any other, I just state the facts that I see with my own eyes, not the ones I hear at the coffee shop.

Re:Need facts

Commatoze, your comparison on torque is correct. The Cummins H.O. makes 94.07 ft-lbs per litre and the 6.0 PSD makes 93.34 ft-lbs. per litre. However, the H.O. Cummins only makes 51.70 horsepower per litre, while the 6.0 PSD makes 54.17 horsepower per litre. Wasn't trying to be a smart ankle, just getting down to fact
