If you find it, the disadvantage to replace just that is getting it setup and gaped right. If that's not done, your going to be replacing them over and over.

Old thread, same problem!

My A/C compressor coil is shorted out. The compressor itself along with the rest of the system (condensor, accumulator, dryer, etc.) seems in good shape yet, so I don't see the need for a new compressor which requires changing out all the other parts. Where can one find a replacement coil and clutch assembly!?!?!?!?!?! I have seen threads about getting it done, and several nay sayers about setup, etc., but no one has listed where the parts were sourced. Why do I need to buy a $350 compressor and the rest of the junk, along with having the system evacuated and charged at a licensed A/C repair shop, when all I need is the stupind coil????I guess that is what happens when Dodge sources a Ford part for our trucks!

MR Jerry Help!

What kit did you use to fix your compressor, what was involved. What part of WA are you in.

Thanks
Bill

comp clutch

Bill, go to e-bay,punch in Dodge 2006 air conditioner kits or try differrent key words.Always use dodge air condition in your key words. you will find a co that sells a clutch assembly, coil, clutch, & bearing. It is a good product with better springs than your Oem. He even e-mails you complete instructions on install for all 3 pieces. You do not have to install bearing if yours is still good. $95 bucks shipped. You don't have to pull pump or evac system. The hardest part is that the coil does not come with ihe factory connect, just 2 wires and soldering the wires under that truck will send you to the chiro.

I found a killer price on a comp and installed it, but ordered the clutch kit to put on my old pump to keep as a spare. Way easier install when pump is out. I am not affilited with this company and new to forum, so will not post any links in case it's a no no. good luck, Boudreaux

Good info all!

I got mine from gentleman going by Mooon101, and he sent email instructions. I am doing the relay listed in another thread, going for better juice for lockup. Parts look awesome, and the description was for a coil - not the entire kit I received! I just need to work on it this weekend and get my cold air back!

Zulu that's the guy I was was refering to, awesome clutch, steel springs. if i read it right you got the whole kit, the coil and clutch are a piece of cake to install. the wires that are coming out of new coil need to be spliced into the old clutch factory connection to Tipm. Do your best on that splice. It is underneath the oil filter and always has vibration from cycling pump on off.

Another tip- be gentle with that small bolt in the center of pump it is small and weak, use a good 10 pt socket, if you break or strip that engineering marvel, you will have a bad day.

Also follow moons instruction on gap, simple and it works. Boudreaux

Does it matter which wire is connected where on the coil? One is shorter than the other, but both are solid black, no tracer color.

Mr Jerry is correct. The wires are staggered short & long so your splices would not be side by side, let us know how you made out
