Need advice on rock protection

I currently am running the stock Michelin bologna skins. They are no good on ice and snow so I'm going to go with Toyo Open Country AT's or MT's, haven't decided yet, but they will be in the 285/70-75/17 size. The problem is they will throw rocks and I will need to add some fender flares to protect the paint. I currently have running boards but they won't fit I don't think with fender flares. So....what do I do to protect the rockers and doors then? I don't see Line-X as an option because it won't go high enough up the doors. We have a lot of big gravel on the gravel roads here in MT. Is there a mudflap nerf bar combo that works? Opinions please. What does everyone else do? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure I will have to go the fender flare route but I don't know what to do with the rocker panels.

Yeah, my rocker panels are hammered from driving on gravel roads. I have stick-on stainless steel panels that go down pretty far, but not far enough. I'm thinking bed liner, although the 3m clear bra stuff is supposed to be pretty good but it's too late for that in my case. Maybe a step bar and front flaps would've helped too, I dunno.

Northwest Custom mudflaps used to make really good flaps but I can't seem to locate them. Any of you NWbombers on here know his web site?

You might check these rocker flares out. They are supposed to work well when used with mudflaps. I saw them at SEMA 2 years ago, and they looked like they would work. They can also be notched for steps.

Kinda of reminds me of my Line-X'd N-Fab steps...best of both worlds, protection and ease of entry...

I was about to post the same question. I have Toyo on my 97 and they chuck the rocks. The stainless wont stand up. I want running boards and flares for my 08 but I don't know if I should go with Dodge stuff or aftermarket.Any ideas ?

I put on some Bushwacker Extend-a-Fenders with some Proflap mud flaps. The mud flaps are exactly the same as those Duraflaps, but the Duraflaps look like they're easier to install. So far my truck stays pretty clean and I don't hear anything hitting the rockers on dirt roads.

My Line-X on the rocker panels and pocket flares keep the rocks off my truck... an I have Toyo MT 35x12.5's on...

The Line-X on the rocker panels covered all of the old damage and keeps it from getting worse...

Do your flares go over the line-x on your rockers or did they shoot the liner up to your flares? What I mean is did they shoot the liner from fender well to fender well or between the flares.
