Which navigation?

Am looking into putting a navigation system in the truck and was wondering what units yall have and what yall think about em. Let me know what yall think whether its after market or the rb1's. If I go with the RB1 what else will I have to have other than the unit? Will I need to have another bezel to make it fit or what?

I have the RB-4 in mine. It works well but does NOT feature the map feature. I prefer a GPS unit that has the map feature, and I believe the RB-1 DOES. It should make a very nice system for you.

I didn't want to have to buy the new bezel and radio for my truck, plus was told they didn't work in Alaska when I was there. I instead bought a Garmin nuvi 360. I like it alot better than my wifes BMW 330 w/ navigation. The garmin has alot more features and can go from vehicle to vehicle.

IMHO the factory nav that came in my truck is $4000 garbage, I Was looking at a Pioneer model with touch screen and it played movies for less than half what I paid for the factory unit...I'm just a little bitter with DC about my unit...

I have the Garmin Streetpilot III. I have a setup for my bike and when I’m in the truck I have a mount for it. I'm not sure you could get a Streetpilot anymore they have been updated by the 2610 or the 2620 I think. The Streetpilot III is an amazing GPS so the updated version can only be better! Happy New Year, Carol

Thumbs up

I have a Garmin 2720. I use it on my BMW motorcycle and in the truck.
It`s a very good, well built and reliable unit.
Color touch screen with voice guidance.
I would not buy and install a fixed unit if it was not a factory setup.
This just plugs into the lighter and sets on the dash.
It`s been superseded so you can find them at a good price. I paid $785.00
for mine about 1.5 years ago.

I have the RB1 and it is a lot nicer than the RB4 when it comes to the NAV set up. No you do not have to change your bezel. I got mine used of ebay for 400. Brand new they are 1600 and not worth it. And Reman of ebay is 550. Very easy to install. I personally do not like the look of aftermarket stereos

The Pioneer AVIC-Z1 is unbelievable! It does everything and has phone numbers already stored for almost all of the 11 million locations in the database. With the optional Bluetooth module, you can just hit "dial" and it will call the number using the microphone and truck's speakers. I've thrown away all my useless phone books and now go outside to the truck when I need a phone number! It also does voice recognition (that really works!) so you hardly ever have to touch the screen. Everyone who gets in my truck is shocked at what it does and how well it actually works.

Pics in my gallery.

I use a Cobra 3080 NavOne (3000 with carrying case, etc) with a 5.2" viewing screen and audio. It comes with street level maps installed for U.S., and the larger Canadian metro areas. The unit has the maps loaded already on an automoive grade hard drive. My wife uses a Cobra 2200 (3.5" screen) in her truck and it works fine for her. These units run $460 or so on QVC.com and a bit more from retail outlets. I think Cobra also sells direct off their website.

Happy New Year,

Tom

That is sweet- guess that answers my question about which upgrades are worht the money. I'll be going base stereo and picking up that instead, considering the coast is similar!

Pioneer and Alpine both make a very nice setup which is well worth the cost of, I used to have the alpine system in one of my old trucks that was very easy to use
