n00b here..!!!

Hello there....!!!

N00b here...!!! First time new owner of a '06 DODGE RAM SLT 2500 (Diesel + Lone Star Ed.). Previous car was/is a '97 Mazda Miata and before that a '87 Nissan Truck (was good to almost 200,000 miles before transmission started to give-up)

The RAM 2500 is replacement for the Miata, very economical car but no way to carry anything...!!!! Wife's car is a 2006 Kia Rio that replaced a 2000 NISSAN Xterra. Was planning to get a TOYOTA Tacoma (4-Cyl) due to the excellent reviews and the need for more cargo space (with the Miata and wife's Kia Rio no real cargo space) when the DODGE RAM caught my attention due to the special deal of 0% A.P.R. for 60 months and the good reviews of the Cummins engine. Went to the dealership last Saturday just to check it (I really did not believe that I'll qualify for the 0% APR), made an offer ($2000 below MSRP) to the sales guy (very nice and professional) and mentioned that I'll buy it only if I get qualified for the 0% deal, he went to talk to his "Manager", fill out the application and he came back that the approved APR for me was 2.9%, I sayed thanks but NO thanks and started walking out of the dealership, he ask me to wait and went to re-check with Chrysler Credit and he came back with the 0% deal...!!! Wife was in shock because we really do not need any more debt...!!!!!

I really do not need to tow anything bu I got it for the great looks and the bullet-proof engine..!!! Lots of question regarding the maintenance of the Cummins engine but hope to find all the right answers in the forum.

Take care.

First of all, welcome to DTR !

This is a great place for all sorts of diesel engine and Dodge Ram info. Lots of knowledgable people here. Good luck with your truck. You will be impressed with the Cummins, I know I was when I got mine.

Diesels great, let it warm up before you stand on it, let it cool down after you stand on it, they don't like to go to the corner store and be shut off, change the oil and the fuel filter regularly, you'll love it! welcome!

Also feel free to ask any of us sponsors questions too. We love to help people figure out what they need to install for a particular application or direction they want to go with upgrades.
