My seat is wearing out!

My driver's side seat is getting to the point where it feels like the foam has separated and I can feel the side rail metal on the left side. ( very uncomfy!) This is with only 58k on an 06! Does anyone else have this problem, and if so, what is the best solution to fix or replace it?

No problems on mine. But I don't "slide" out of my truck when I exit, I "step" out so I don't flatten the outside of the seat. 85k miles and the driver's side looks like the passenger side.

I also have nerf bars and try not to slide out too much, but I weigh 240 and that may accelerate the problem. I just want to fix it.

Unfortunately I don't have an answer but I feel your pain mine is the same. The sliding is almost inevitable. There is not much room under the steering wheel to be able to "stand up".

I have not priced them new, but a junk yard is bound to have a few wrecked 3rd Generations with good interiors. That's where I would start. I haven't heard about any issues specific to certain years. I would guess 2002 (for 1/2 ton) to present is all pretty close to the same?

My 05 is starting to break down, the cover and foam is easy to take off. . You can order the fabric and foam ready for installation from Dodge.. Do a search on seat mods..

Put in a set of GM seats like I did in my truck. I love those seats.

Happened to my 06 too. I removed the cloth and duct taped the foam back together. I put on a few layers of tape to help add some more layers between me and the frame. Not a real "fix", but untill I can find some good used seats or afford new ones it will have to do.

There is a seat repair thread somewhere if you look around... something about replacing the foam with some generic stuff.

I feel your pain man. Mine broke down to the point where I feel the rail on my butt!! I cant help it being 6'5 320, that seat broke down in a hurry!! HAHA I did the seat mode and it did not help the side problem at all. The only way to fix I think is to tape it like one of the others did, or order another seat bottom and beef it up so it wont break down again.

Here's that thread I was talking about...

Torkmnstr what football team you playing for? I've had the same issues with the Dodge seats, and have heard good things about the seat mod madhat posted.

The wire grid underneath the foam on my driver side seat is cutting through the foam resulting in the Detroit lean syndrome. It's been way too cold to mess with it now but when it warms up I am going to put some backing material between the foam and the wire grid.

HA, tell me about it, I missed that boat [duhhh]. Yeah I followed the same mod, but it helped in the middle but not to much on the side. I still hit the side of the seat when I sit on it.

Thanks for the input, guys. Yeah, the center of my seat is fine, just the left side is bad.
BADME, what do you have to do to fit a gm seat in a dodge?
Also, is there a way to pull off the fabric to fix the foam without taking the seat out?
