Michelins cracking

Hey Guys, I have 30K on my stock set of Michelins. I have read all the reports of getting them replaced with BFG's. My question is where to start. Do I contact Michelin via the warranty info, or take it to a Michelin dealer. Any suggestions from those who have done this would be greatly appreciated.

I realize with this many miles that I probably will only get a pro-rated deal.

Thanks,
Chris

1) call Michelin, start a file. They are aware of the problem.
2) go to Michelin dealer, they call Michelin. I went to Sears.
3) order, say, BFGs. mine were pro-rated at 48,000 but I ended up getting like $300, can't complain for near wore out tires.

All my research from about a year ago said LTX's were the bees knees for truck tires....great traction in snow and rain, etc. hmmmmmmm

They were very nice on dry pavement. Very scary in the rain. I cannot comment on snow.

X2

I had mine replace last Saturday with four new Michelin LTX A/S. Be prepared to spend time find a dealer that will work with you and Michelin. I probably went to 10 places. Started at Sears, but they did not have the Michelins (just BFGs) and they were very strict on tire wear measurement. I finally ended up at Merchant's Tire. They argued with Michelin over the pro-rating and eventually got me 100% with 10/32 tread remaining (about 17K on tires).

hmmm....tire rack ratings seem wonderful for this tire....much better than the BFG's.....and I'm a BFG fan. I'd love to get a set of winter duelers for this truck some day......they are awesome on my bronco

I can't see LTX A/S outperforming BFG A/T in anything other than wear. traction on pretty much anything other than dry pavement was terrible.

i pretty much did the same thing contacted Michelin. Got a claim started. then had to go hunting for a dealership that wanted to work with that Michelin warranty. i had 22,000 on my tires. and i ended up getting $150 a tire. Michelin was cool about it. It was the tire store people that were a bunch of a$$ holes. I ended up with 315/70r/17 BFG A/T. just had to pay the difference.

Seems to me by filing the claim you are legally aware and if you continue to use them you assume alot of the risk.......

Maybe you didn't read the first part of my post. I have already tried to get them replaced and have been turned down....Now since I have already tried to get my defective tires replaced and THEY refused replace them and something happens I would think it is now on their shoulders as THEY are the ones dropping the ball.
