Not yet done the screens. I am not sure what you are asking about the blend door. It did help to have it repaired, the AC does not work well with it broken.
I had my blend door replaced and they also removed the screens. The air flow out of the dash is a bit more however the air temp still leaves a lot to be desired. I did notice a significant reduction in the air coming from the rear air ducts.
We often bash the dealer so i though it only fitting to compliment when deserved. I went to Ed Moses Dodge in Scottsdale where i bought the vehicle and i discussed with my svc advisor that another member has spoken with the Svc Mgr regarding the screens and I would like to have that done. He said no TSB for it but he would chat w/ her. I also had a leaking steering stabilizer; he asked if I had the level kit put on their as they will warranty if so but if done elsewhere probably not. I did'nt have it done there and was honest with him. The next day I went and picked it up, screens removed (left in vehicle at my request) and stabilizer replaced under warranty. They did not have to replace the stabilizer as i had messed with the suspension so I was happy to say the least.
It's nearly 100 mile roundtrip to the dealer and I let them know that so maybe they figured if I was willing to drive past 5 other dealers they would do me right. I have gone there for service in the past and there have been issues but they have always made them right (rental car when parts not in as supposed to be, full detail inside and out and engine due to stain on seat from tech) so I will continue to go there when needed. Rant over, but good service outta fetch as much forum time as bad.
What was the name of your advisor over there? I'm in Avondale and will gladly drive for a good service dept if needed. Luckily I haven't needed anything but the blend door as of yet.

I believe it's in the forum rules that you are NOT to discuss favorable dealership experiences. It detracts from the general spirit of the board.
The "tech tip" was in a recent newletter from the star tech line. My boss had his truck done and gave it a big thumbs up. I've also done about four customer rigs and have had "so/so" reviews. We've really had to make it clear that it will increase air flow, which can help in comfort, not turn your living room attached to a dakota (humorous Mega description for you slow folks) into an instantly comfortable place to be. While the Mega is probably a nice cab for most, I've found that they are pretty miserable out here in the desert. While much smaller cab wise, my 01 will still cool quite nicely even at 128 degrees within a few miles.
.....and fyi most articles from dealer connect have the "do not print...etc..." disclaimer.

"By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws." This is the only thing I have found regarding unacceptabel posts. If there is additional documentation regarding allowable posts then I am unaware; perhaps a moderator can enlighten us.

I understand unfavorable or dealer bashing would not be good, but kudos to a good dealer helps us all. Good diesel techs are few and far between. Point taken though.
Long time, no post, DTR Community! I know it’s probably poor etiquette to reply to a thread from over a decade ago, but this is literally THE only one on the Internet I could find that made reference to this screen. I noticed the same (along with some crud that I cleaned) when installing HeaterTreater doors over Christmas (my mode 1 door was the first to finally fail a couple weeks before at 135K miles). Unfortunately I stumbled on this thread after reassembling everything, new expanding foam to boot - and it is blowing much stronger now! But I wanted to share something else that folks with a third gen might appreciate.
Background: when I ordered my HeaterTreater doors, I didn’t include the fifth door because I saw that it’s not prone to failure, so I figured I’d save a couple bucks. Well, after I had torn everything apart, I discovered that the OE mode 2 door was slightly taller than the HeaterTreater replacement - and the HeaterTreater also didn’t have the arm and connecting rod for the cam that turns the fifth door to shutoff the rear vents when in defrost mode. I was faced with the decision to cut the actuator mounts (by about 1/2” to get the actuator to engage the new HeaterTreater door), so that I could put it back together and forgo the rear shutoff functionality - OR - leave it disassembled and wait a 1-2+ weeks for parts (USPS delays). Easy decision - and I figured if I really had to, I could fish a straight wire up and turn the rear shutoff by hand in a pinch.
Well, after getting it all back together and driving it for a few days, I wasn’t happy with this compromise. As the wheels turned, I realized I could use that functionality in vent or floor too, if I didn’t have passengers and made it easy enough to reach, which was the motivation I needed! I turned a **** from some scrap curly cherry, glued to a 3/4” oak dowel, mounted to the plastic cam via a few screws and epoxy. Added a spring to make installing the outer plastic panel possible, but still hold it against the HVAC box - and a 3/4” washer with a dab of grease to help prevent the rotation from eating through the plastic panel and to distribute the load of the spring.
Net result is approximately 1.5-2 kts improved airflow on the vents (since I didn’t spend anything on this, I had an excuse to buy an anemometer)!
Nice!!
How did the heater treater install go? I am planning on this in the next month or so. I've delt with the broken blend doors for a few years now and need it to be back to normal!!
It went pretty well - definitely worth it! I was able to get mode 1 and 2, and the recirc doors replaced without cutting into the plenum... but I couldn't figure out how to wiggle the blend door out without completely removing the box. I resigned to cutting the plenum for the mode door, knowing full well that if I waited until it was apart again and didn't replace it, it too would break. It's nice they send you instructions with a cutting pattern and rotary bit.
I did slightly bend the pins that are intended to be stops for travel. I wanted to ensure that all doors sat flush and closed fully in both positions... and I must've checked operation of everything with the 9V tester like 30 times per door. I was worried something would rub and then get stuck.
Only other thing of note... I couldn't find a wiring harness plug at the bottom of the dash, so I ended up resting it on the seat, rotated 90, thankfully that was plenty of room to work and access everything. It was a huge PAIN to reconnect and tidy up the rats nest I have from the aftermarket stuff (gauges, radar detector, alarm - it was actually by far the worst), so hopefully yours is closer to factory.
Take the time to do it right though, clean everything up really well and install some new foam (I used expanding foam / weatherstripping). Good luck!!

Thanks for all the heads up!!
Mine behind there is all stock so hopefully no issues like you had.
