Mega cab A/C fix
I have an appointment to get my A/C looked at due to air is not near as cold as it could be plus the temp of the air fluctuates a little (maybe just needs a recharge but my truck is only 3 weeks old). I told the service writer about this fix you guys are talking about concerning air volume. The service writer said "they must be breaking those doors in the blend box, I wouldn't recommend that". I said, "no...they are removing a screen, not a door". He said, "I've never heard of that, they must be breaking something".

Another DC CYA??? I know we have written permission somewhere???? Don't we?

Well, a clarification, the screen "fix" is not an official TSB. I spoke with my dealer on this and they will not do anything until they see a TSB. In fact, they claim that the screen has nothing to do with the airflow to the front vents (we all know this is NOT true).
Basically, if I want this done, they want to charge 8 hours labor to do the job. If it takes them 8 hours labor to pull a dash and do this, they need to find a new line of work. I'm really getting fed up with my dealer. People that cannot think "outside the box" drive me nuts. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of choices with dealers here as one guy owns all but one of the local Dodge dealers.
I'm about ready to do this myself...I just need to find good instructions on dash removal (with the new center console) on the '06 model.

Just wanted to add a note on a quick fix
If your recirculation door breaks off, it's easy to make a simple and quick temporary fix. (I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I haven't seen it)
When my recirc door broke off and fell on the squirrel cage, it made a horrendous noise and blocked most of the air flow. We were leaving town a few days later for a vacation over the Independence day holiday, and I didn't want to drive the wife’s mini van, so I decided to see what I could do to fix the problem.
I disconnected the fan motor and removed the three screws holding the motor and squirrel cage in place. The motor dropped straight down out of the ducting and with it out of the way, I was able to stick my hand up into the ducting and remove the offending broken recirc door and the small broken arm (found it in the squirrel cage).
The job took all of 15 minutes, start to finish, and it restored my air flow and eliminated the noise, but I did loose the recirculation function.
I had the recirc door replaced last week and when I had it done I included the write up from Post #9 regarding removing the nylon screen on top of the HVAC housing to fix the air flow issue.
The work order states that they addressed my air flow issue and my dash cover was all messed up like they had messed with my dash, so they may have removed the screen. I haven't noticed an increase in the air flow, but it seems to be working again!!

When the dealer replaced the "blend door" under warrantee it took the tech 45 minutes to do it. I was out of there in less than hour and 1/2 from the time I pulled into the service drive bay. Call Tina in service @ Ed Moses Dodge as mentioned in my earlier post. She had the screens removed on her Mega. I am pretty sure they have a 800 number if you are not local. I would think all 5 star dealers would be the same........maybe not!
I spoke with her yesterday. She emailed me the info but because it is not an "official" TSB, the dealer will not touch it (yes, they're a five star dealer, but they won't be when I'm done with 'em). I even printed it out and showed it to the service advisor. I would have shown it to the AC guy, but the dealership will not let their techs talk with customers.
According to my service advisor, the dealer's AC guy (whose ability I am questioning) stated that the screen should not be removed since "it is there to keep debris from falling into the blower motor". Never mind that it's two feet to the left of the motor.
I may try another dealer to see if I can get anyone to reason on this. Otherwise, I'm left to purchase a service manual and do it myself (I'm not afraid of doing that at all).

Maybe some confusion here, there is a screen above the blower and recirc. door, it is the fresh air intake. I would not remove this one. The ones being discussed here, however not seen yet seem to be down stream from the blower, why would they install screens there is anybody's guess.
