I love this quote:
If a fracture happens, drivers could notice a loss in directional stability, increasing the risk of a crash.
Notice a loss of directional stability? Really? That would mean you actually have some control over the steering. How about you won't be able to steer the truck because the 3 wheels aren't connected any more!

Ah, gotcha, since it said Death Wobble I didn't think it had anything to do w/ the tie rod ends.

Ah, yea, I see that. I took it for granted I previously posted in that thread so I was subscribed when a link to the recall was posted to it.

Exactly!
Isn't that the media's job to scare us with "sky is falling" kind of storys?

Letters will most likely get mailed to all 03-up Dodge 2500/3500 owners to bring their trucks in for inspection. The recall will mostly affect 2008-2009 trucks with the pre-AE steering linkages. The linkages used a drivers side TRE that had less articualtion than the new AE-AG linkages. On those trucks they will replace that TRE and align the truck properly. On trucks with the older y-style steering nothing is required. If the truck has the newer steering it will be inspected for improper drivers side TRE "orientation" and if it is found to be out of spec the TRE will be replaced and the truck re-aligned.

This will have nothing to do with standard wear or "death wobble". Death Wobble/Shimmy/Steering Oscillation will never be cured as it is a possible byproduct of a 4-link coil sprung solid axle front suspension. Ford, Jeep, Landcruisers, Etc. are prone to exhibit DW when certain things are out of spec due to wear, improper alignment, modifications to the geometry, or poor tire choice.
