looking at buying a megacab

We have been looking for a truck lately. I found a megacab I like. The guys has a 2007 mega laramie with a 5.9 with ~60000 miles on it. He was asking 31k for it before but has lowered it to 29k. I looked at it and it looks like he took good care of it. So I was curious what you all thought if that was a good deal if I offered him 28000. Also I was curious what most of you get with your megas with a 5.7 and how you like them.

Thanks

^^^ That about sums it up!!!^^^

I love mine. I would think that if it is a 4x4 with an auto that the price would be about right.

I think that, or hope that was a typo, cause no body buys a mega with a Hemi unless its for the wife....

I think he meant to type 6.7, in which case you will find mixed emotions and reviews, but one constant, if you get rid of the Bluetec junk, its a fine powerplant.

You guys think the Mega Cab is harder on fuel than a quad cab?

tool.

No, sometime I get better mileage with my MegaCab than others with their QC's. I think it has a lot to dowith how you drive, the overall conditions that you drive in, tires, etc - too many variables from one truck to the other to really make any claims. Might be possible if we all drove stock trucks - that would be the day, eh?

I agree.

Go Cummins or stay home with the MegaCab...especially if fuel mileage is a concern. Not pulling anything and you have 4 tons going down the road with kid stuff in the back and all the seats filled.

Mine is at 40,000 miles and average about 18 City...G56 and 3.73 rear. Wife only gets about 16 City. We just did a 3,600 mile road trip and we saw 21.5 Highway for entire trip. I drive like an old man with bad eye-sight, by the way. Anything over 2K rpms and you will see the numbers posted above for the 5.9.

For the mileage nuts...hand calculated and topped off.

I agree. Main variable = nut behind the wheel.

I have an 06 4x4 Auto with 86K. I get the following. See my sig for mods

City - 15-16 unloaded.
Highway - 19 or so. have gotten as high as 21 on stock tires.
Light load - 12 highway - approx 7K lbs
Heavy load - 8-10 - this is approx 15K lbs.

You will never regreat a 5.9 MegaCab. this is the best heavy duty dodge to date. The new motors may be nice, but the emissions stuff is rediculous, casues problems and reduced mileage.

Choked on my McD's. I have the megacab CTD and had a QC Hemi before this.
Now that I've owned them both, as much as I loved my HEMI, I wouldn't dream of owning a megacab Hemi.

I have a buddy with the Powerwagon. That is a sweet truck, but with the HEMI it is a pig. It is not even a MC, only a QC. He never looks at the over head liar, but when ever I get in I step it over to see and it has never been over 8.something!!!

I have been in driving bliss since I got my MC. I have 4 kids so I need the real estate, and it has been so much more enjoyable pulling the travel trailer to the lake without little feet kicking me in the back of the head like in the old extended cab. Not to mention better mpg. Bone stock in mixed driving I've been getting 16. Will be interesting to see where it goes from here. Definitely not looking back.

My mega typically got around 18-19 on the interstate during long trips. Close to 13-1 in town before the lift. Now I am typically getting around 16 on the interstate and 12 in town. My friends usually argue over who is going to ride in the back of mine. If you get one you won't be able to go back to a quadcab. I switch trucks with a friend pretty often and his quadcab feels like a go-kart compared to the mega. He and his wife want a mega now, in fact we use my truck to pull their boat to the lake most of the time. Love the mega!
