i don't understand how there can be such and difference, but im guessing the one shop just doesn't like to do it.

anyone know how well they prep? i want my rockers done because of some paint thats chipped off and it's starting to rust slightly on the surface. i don't want them to just spray over rust and have issues later.
they take a DA to the paint, and scuff it pretty good to get adhesion. i'd bet if you talked it over with them first, you could get them to pay special attention to the areas with the surface rust.

my line-x guy is great. first they mask it. then they would/should rough sand the surfaces to sprayed. clean it and spray it. the prep is most definetly where the labor is. getting nice staight lines and protecting the rest of the vehicle an easy job. my short bed with the kevlar enforced protectant was $680. but, you could put a laser on the lines he did over the rail, and see perfection!

When I had my bed sprayed I asked about the rockers and the guy said $2200 He claimed it was really tough to do because of the doors and all the gaps. I think he really didn't want to do it.

There is a guy running around town here that has his rockers done in the standard black and then the truck is covered in a stick-on vinyl for autos. It is a camo pattern and looks pretty cool. He told me it cost him about $600 to spray the rockers. He used a different dealer than I did and his truck is a 2d gen.

I have line-x in my short bed, over the rails. Today I had a forklift push this load off of another fork lift . This load slid the entire length of the bed with the leading edge of the stack doing the sliding. They dropped the back side of the load off the lift once it was all the way forward. The liner looked like it had never been touched after we got it unloaded.

Hey guys, I had my bed and rockers done by a place that uses stuff called Extreme. It's pretty much the same as Line-X. I live in Corpus Christi TX, and when i had my bed and rockers done, there wasn't a Line-X place close by. That was well over a year ago, and I still don't think there is a Line-X place around here. There are other places like Rhino and a few others I don't recall the name of, but I'm very happy with the job I got. It cost me $475.00 for the rockers, but that was over a year ago. I had him spray extra high because of scratch marks my kids had made with their bikes, and I had him spray the lower part of my tailgate. Just talking with the guy, he said the major portion of the job was the prep work. He told me after the fact that he could prep and spray several beds, compared to the time it takes to properly prep and spray rocker panels on one truck. Anyway, I'm still real happy with the job he did, and consider it one of the best investments I've made to my truck. I won't bother posting pics because someone else already posted some pics of my truck for me. Makes me feel famous! They are on the first page of this post. Just know that those pics are over a year old, and I've de-badged the truck since then. Rockers and bed still look great.

that looks **** good, and something like that would take care of 95% of my rock chip problems.

Just one more thing to say guys. The only gripe I have, and it is a very minor one at that, is that light loads do like to slide around in my bed. It's not really a problem, I just have to strap or tie down anything I don't want to slide around in the bed. Not really a problem, because it's really safer to tie down your loads anyway. And with the rockers sprayed, I don't cringe anymore in the parking lot when some idiot parks next to me and slams their car door into the side of my truck! No more dings, dents or scratches! At least not for me!

I hope I didn't offend you by posting your pictures. I was careful not to take credit for them - I'm jealous as my truck is the same color and I've been wanting to get that done for a long time.

If the load slides, install a rubber mat over the line-x. It looks good and will keep the liner from fading. Mats are about $60. I have one and love it.
