levaling kit

I am planing on getting a 2 inch levaling kit soon. I heard when i do this i should get new shocks because stocks ones will bottom out. what type of shock do you suggest and what brand of levaling kit i was thinking hell bent steel but not sure. Also I have seen alot rims that i am pretty sure are stock that are black. Buddy of mine said that they painted them that way. How is this done is it something that can be done in my garage or what.

You dont have to replace the front shocks with a leveling kit.
I kept the stock shocks with my 1/2 ton gasser and never had an issue with it.

As for the rims, you could probably paint them in your garage, but i would suggest getting them powder coated by someone.

I didnt replace my shocks on my 06 with a HBS leveling kit. I have since removed it but I never had any problems with shocks.

yeah you need to replace your shocks in the front. bilstein 5100's. The stock shocks can bottom out so it IS a good idea to change them.

The shocks may top out but they will not bottom out. I've installed five hellbent two inch leveling kits and have used the stock shocks on all of them and have never had a problem.

You won't bottom them out, you'll top them out. Throw in some Bilstein 5100's while you're in there.
