LED Backup lights

Does anybody have experience with these kind of lights. I was thinking of putting them in the bumper of my '05 Dodge. Do you think they'll be bright enough for backup lights? Would they look pretty good or is it going to be tacky (ie look like trailer lights)? Just looking for alternatives to hanging lights below the bumper. Any thoughts?

From the looks of them they need to be installed in an opening that you would have to cut in your bumper. they are grommit mount.

Just get the White Night reverse lights. No CUTTING or SPLICING. They mount between the hitch area.

The factory lights are useless.

LEDS are NICE but they do not put out a lot of "useable light". In other words, a good halogen bulb would make a great flashlight, but a LED bulb does not throw out a lot of light for a flashlight.

LEDs are good for side marker lights and the such, but they would NOT make for good headlights, or in this case, reverse lights.

It depends on the wattage of the LEDs the 3 watt and 5 watt put out quite a bit of light. Installation may be an issue if they need installed "in" the bumper. The brightness of LEDs is interesting, do some reading on StreamLight and SureFire and you will find that they can be pretty bright.

Led Backup Lts

I am in the LED business & you ain't seen nothing yet. We currently have led applications that are replacing streetlights in Europe. Also working on Led replacements for Automobile Headlights. The biggest problem at present is heat. The aftermarket should begin marketing 10 watt backup replacements in the next few months.

I know that LEDS have great possiblities. Currently, though, LEDs as back-up lights or headlights would NOT work.

So the Recons look nice but I do not think they would offer enough light for use as back-up lights. I have LEDs on my running boards. They are good for marking the side of the truck BUT they do NOT offer enough light for anything else besides just a marker light.

The White Night reverse lights add 130,000 candlepower with two - 55 Watt Halogen bulbs! LEDs are nice but they still have a long way to go before they can be used as headlights or reverse lights.
