Angry Latest revelation about these lousy seats!

Well as you know many of us are complaining about the lousy seats in these new trucks. I have the premium cloth seat with 6 way power and lumbar adjust. The lumbar sticks too far out even in the minimal setting. My back hurts after driving and my legs go numb. I am not the only one with this problem.

So I was at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville yesterday. Sat in a 2005 3005 truck with the same seat option as mine. Guess what...the seats were awesome! Very comfortable and the lumbar could be adjusted alot more than mine!!!! The whole seat just felt softer. I really liked them. So anyway what should I do about my seats. Here is the option I have been thinking about.

1. Replace my seats with 2005 seats from a wrecked truck.
2. Discuss issue with dealer and see if we can swap seats from a 2005 on the lot. Fat chance right?
3. Have upolstery shop re-pad my seats.
4. Sell my truck and buy a 2005! I think that may hurt my already injured wallet though.

What do you guys think? At least now I know there are good seats being made. I just gotta get my hands on some! Uh...truck seats that is!

5. Buy a set of SRT-10 seats and install. (That's what I want to do - way comfortable!)

Of course, my seats are just fine so far.

Oh, those SRT-10 Seats are sweet. It would be cool if Dodge offered the seats as a upgrade option.

Too late for me for that. But, I'm sure you could by a "replacement set" through parts. Price would be the only question. I want the hood, seats and shifter **** from the SRT-10. Unfortunately, the **** has different threads than the standard shifter in my truck. Oh well, guess I could replace the whole shifter stick, too!

I know a guy that re-tapped the shifter ball. He said it was easy.

I had the same problem as you in my 05 with leather electric adjustable.

I found that if I put the seat all the way up front and rear adjust the front end down to comfort, the seat back was tilted slightly foreward.

I then adjusted the seat back to finally achieve lumbar support.

You may try raising the rear of the seat 1/2" -1 1/2" to get the lower seat >or< parallel to the floor. Then adjust your seatback. A couple of steel body or shock spacers and a couple of grade #8 bolts, should do the trick.

Sitting in a V position for a prolonged trip was killing me! Until I figured this out!

Unhappy Factory Seats

Purchasing through parts dept "well" I think you had better be setting down when you here the price.

My 03 had the rear bench and I wanted the 60/40 split along with fold flat floor panels. Right after purchase had the wife call DC about purchasing the 03 60/40 they quoted right at 2 grand for it not including the floor panels. Even the parts man ask my wife if she was sitting down before he told her the price.

A friend of mine has a 03 with the 6 way power seats. Drove to Florida with him last year and I could not get comfortable in those seats. Both the drivers and passengers. I ordered my 04.5 with the regular non powered seats and I really like them. Can't say for sure what the difference is, but to my back side it is night and day.

Dorkweed, I have and 04.5 2500 and I absolutely HATE my seats. I've got 3 layers of egg crate on em right now trying to alleviate the pain. I'm probably going to have mine taken to an upholstry shop to get padded. I was in the dealer and complained to him about my seats. He just kinda sighed, like he has heard this plenty of time before. Told me he couldn't do anything about it because the seats are considered wear and tear items, and that the cloth/upholstry warranty expired after 12,000 miles. I even have an extended warranty and he said no go. He did offer to give me the name/number of an upholstry shop that he uses to add padding to the seats for customer willing to pay for it...(how nice of him)

If I can't get these seats figured out, I fear this truck may not last in my possesion for long !!!

When I was looking to trade my 03 the 05's I drove were not overly comfortable. With the power lumbar you could shrink it out of the way or expand it as much as you want. The manual lumbar adjust needs one more click to reduce it even more. I have no complanints with my new seats but unfortunaltey they did not come with the Cummins.
