"Lamp Out" Light wont stop??? HELP
For the past 2 days, while driving home from work or in the evening (before the sun goes down) my Lamp out light will blink which is accompanied by the annoying beep. I dont even have my lights on and it just decides to start going crazy. It will blink (and chime) randomly while driving. When I got home today I turned on the lights, the lamp out light happend to be on, and I had NO lights out.

Any Ideas???

Any Ideas???
Did you look at your licence plate bulbs? I had that happen a couple years ago.
Now I've been having kinda the same issues, except when I come to a stop, the 'lamp out' light isn't on. I'll probably pull the tail light assemblys out this weekend and check the sockets to see if they are clean or making a high resistive connection.

No they work fine. But I am wondering if I should look into the trailer lights?!?!
The Lamp out light shouldnt come on unless it detects resistance in the circuit which means a light would have to be on, or power would have to be going to the light. Thats what confuses me. I have no lights on and the lamp out light is falshing??

Mine was doing the same. All lights worked. I replaced two in the rear ( one each side in the middle), they both worked but were a bit burnt looking. I also applied dielelectric grease to all connects. Problem solved.
btw - if it is in the tail lens ***'y good luck pulling that sucker off! Mine were stuck on there pretty good.

That warning will come on before the bulbs actually go out. Usually it is one of the center bulbs in the tailight assemblies. You can usually tell which one is about to go when you pull the bulbs out....

Mine did the same thing on the way home from Daytona to NC a couple years ago. Very annoying. After I got home, and after serveral days of searching for the problem, I found it. One of the filliment wires inside a bulb in the passenger side rear light assembley was broken. When my truck was parked sitting still, it made enough connection to make the light work. When I started driving, the vibration would cause a break in the connection, causing the lamp out and chime to come on and off. The only way I got lucky and found it, I had my lights on and closed my tailgate and saw the light flicker off and then back on. Your problem sounds similar. You may try pulling each bulb and give it a small shake to be sure the filliment wires are all connected.
I will work on it today, checking every friggin bulb. Funny thing also happend, when I had my right turn signal on I had that supper fast blink that if I remember correctly is a sign of a ground issue. It only happened a few times and then went away. Could very well be a loose bulb. Think ill start there.
Don't suppose anyone knows how to disable that chime?? That would buy me some time so I don't have hear the stupid thing all day until I fix it. I assume its not the old vehicle where you just pull the relay from under the dash.
Thanks a bunch from all you guys so far.

On my '03, it happens about every 6 months. Usually one of the tail light bulbs. Right now, I'm getting the chime every time I use the brakes (got to be the brake light bulb).
What I read about this problem, along time ago, was to remove the bulb, clean the connection points with a pencil eraser, apply di-electric grease to those points & replace the bulb. It has worked, for me. Only one time did I have a burned-out bulb & the chime didn't warn me. I had new tires installed & the shop noticed the tail light was out & replaced it for free.
I'm quite disappointed with the engineering/design staff at Dodge. I would love to meet the YAHOO that designed the lighting system in our trucks. He must have gotten his electrical engineering degree from a Cracker Jack box. I'm 62 & have had quite a number of vehicles, in my time. Never have I had a vehicle that has had so many lighting/electrical problems.
Who ever designed the seats in my truck should be forced to drive one, all day, without getting out of the vehicle. Paramedics would have to extract him from the vehicle at the end of the day. Many folks have had the same problem with the wire framework cutting off circulation in your right leg after an hour & a half, or more of driving. With the help of folks on these web sites, I was able to fix my seats for well under $10.00.
Dodge has been building trucks for close to 100 years, now. To my knowledge, the vast majority, if not all, of these trucks had seats & lighting systems, in them. How, after all these years of practice, can they not get it right, today??? I've been a Dental Technician for over 42 years. I'm NOT an Electrical/Interior Design Engineer!!! I couldn't even find the front door to one of those schools. So, why does Dodge require me/& us to re-engineer these systems so that they work properly?
Well, that's enough of my complaining. Now, I'm off to fix my brake light bulb, AGAIN!!!

Mine has two torx heads but then you need to pull it off two bayonets. As my buddy put it... pull until it's just about to break, then pull a little more and hope it comes out before it breaks. After I'd put it back together I read the (good) advise to spray a little silicon on the bayonets for next time.
