lamp out/chime and sulastic rubber springs

I have had a problem recently with a chime going off when I'm traveling at highway speeds. The"lamp out" light on the dash also comes on, sometimes in conjunction with the chiming, sometimes not. Both are very intermittent, but sometimes the chiming gets real steady. I could make it stop by lightly pressing the brake pedal, until the brake lights came on and then it would stop. Until it started again...I was towing a trailer at the time. It hasn't done it again, but......
I read a bunch of other threads/posts about similiar, but not exactly the same issues and I'm going to try their suggestions. Anybody else had this exact problem? Have a fix?

On a totally different topic- anybody heard of or have any experience with Sulastic rubber springs? They are suppose to smooth out the ride on these heavier trucks. They tie in with the shackle/leaf springs on the rear.

Any info would be greatly appreciated...

My lamp out will do the exact same thing, even with all the bulbs burning. It will act up and then go away on it's own. Only thing I have found has been replacing the bulbs with heavy duty bulbs from NAPA and using dielectric grease on the connections when you install them.

My 04 did the same thing for about 5k miles before I figured it out. The filament was broken on one end and the diagnostics would detect and open circuit, but the higher load brake light would arc across and the connections was complete so the brake light worked just fine. The aggravation of that chiming and light are not worth the cost of both brake light bulbs and a little dielectric grease!!!!

Mine does this every 6 months or so. It's weak connections in the tail light boards that do it on mine. I end up removing all 6 bulbs, scuffing the contacts on the boards with a tiny rasp/file, bending them in a little with a screw driver, and then putting the bulbs back in with di-electric grease. Have to check the bulbs before you reinstall them, if it's been doing it long enough the wire contact on the bulb will be damaged too.

I have had mine do the chime thing so many times and taken the tail light apart and fixed it. I wish there was a way to disable that bulb out and chime before I stick an ice pick through it.
