I was told by a person at Buckstop that dodge diesel trucks are oversprung 800-850 lbs from the factory. He said Dodge is the only manufactorer that is set up this way.
He was making the point that their 240 lb front bumper wouldn't cause any ill effect on my truck.

Can this be correct?

I do not know about the trucks being oversprung but I have had a Buckstop on my ride for close to three years with no ill effects. Truck is stock height for the time being.

Not even close......read this post from the beginning. Another 240 lbs on the front of your truck will compress the front springs about 1/4-1/2".

Aside from the ride being a bit lower does this matter in any other way? It sounds like doing new front suspension isn't needed.

Thanks for the comments, ChuckD

Not really....you might want to upgrade your front shocks if you haven't done so already. Another 240lbs of inertia can overwork the meager factory shocks. Not enough rebound damping to keep the front end from bouncing.
