Kore Chase vs. Lorenz 2.5 Sway-A-Way vs. Carli Performance

I have a 06 2500 QC LB and am looking to upgrade the suspension and run 35" Toyo MTs. I originally wanted the Kore Chase but research here has got me looking at other options. My budget is ~2.5k for the suspension. It is equally important to have a suspension that improves the handeling and ride on the street and can do really well off road.

I am intrigued by the Lorenz 2.5 Sway-A-Way system as it seems to be their top of the line system, and is currently discounted from 5.5k to 3.5k. Is the extra grand for the Lorenz worth it over the Kore Chase.

What about the Carli Performance system. Dont know much about this setup. How much does it cost, and how does it compare to the others? I want something a little better then their popular starter system.

And finally the Kore Chase. Seems to be a tried and true performer, but recent reports of poor customer service from Kore are concerning me. Also it appears from my research that Kore seems to be prouder of their products when pricing them.

So what do you guys think is the best suspension.

Thanks for your help

Tom

Welcome.

I havent started my suspension yet, but when I do I'll be going with Carli/Thuren. Great combination, and for what you get, the price is reasonable.

Edited by Admin-Personal insults will not be tolerated on this website The next jump on the Carli suspension runs around 4.5k i think. I love my system, but if you get the Lorenz equal for a grand less, that may be the way to go. Talk to Don Thuren about what you want and he can give you an idea of what you will need and will probably be able to equal or better these systems you are looking at. His forum name is Thurenfab. and his website is www.thurenfabrication.com

Go carli all the way. If I wasn't looking into getting motorcycle, I would be looking at Carli for suspension.

Thanks for the replies. The Carli stuff looks nice, but if their next step over the starter system is 4.5k, that puts them out of the price range. I checked out the Thuren website, and i didnt see any kits that they were selling; just individual parts. Can you elaborate on whats involved with the carli/thuren system? Any experiences with the Lorenz sway away 2.5?

Thanks,

Tom

if you are close to me, I'd be glad to show you my Lorenz system.

Sean Lorenz is says many good things about the 2.25 system. I think it may be another good choice. It is a bit less money and depending on what you plan to do with your truck, it may be the ticket.

I have the 2.5 system and like it.

If you have not seem my truck, latest picture is, well here.

Let me know how I can help.

Don does things a little different. He's a bit more flexible and builds them specifically for your needs. He can put a package together comparable to all the rest, you just need to tell him what you want. Give him a call before you make your decision.

My Thuren/Carli system consists of:

* Thuren valved King 2.5 Prerunner Series remote reservoir shocks at the corners
* Thuren spec 3" soft rate (much softer than stock) coil springs
* Thuren shock towers
* Thuren track bar
* Carli extended sway bar end links
* Carli limit straps
* Carli add-a-pack (mini pack or whatever you want to call them) leaf springs

This setup cost me less than the Lorenz 2.5 system discount price, even after I paid to have it installed. I can tell you it costs more now due to material costs, but I don't think its more than the Lorenz kit.

It may not be the exact comparison you are looking for, but I'm getting together with a couple other guys on August 5 in Sacramento to do a comparison of our trucks. One guy is running the KORE Chase. Another is running the Lorenz/Bilstein system. And I have the Carli Starter System with the Bilsteins.

The KORE Chase is the most expensive of our group. The Lorenz and Carli systems are only about $1200 including the Bilstein shocks. We are not trying to come up with a "winner" but rather a comparison between these particular trucks on the Highway, bad pothole filled streets, and light offroad situations. No jumping in the desert for us, but driving mostly over what 95% of the drivers on most boards drive 95% of the time.

I'll post afterwards (along with some pics) with our un-scientific findings.

No it is not more than the Lorenz kit. I have the same kit as Pauly and could not be happier. Sean Lorenz puts together a nice kit but it does not come with a track bar (you will want a track bar with these suspension systems). You could get this system mention here by Pauly with the track bar and probably be close to $500 over your budget. Thuren does not list a system or kit on his website. Just call and talk to him about what you want and he can put something together for you. He is a super guy to work with and has answered all of my calls and stupid questions. Call Don you won't regret it.

Sean does sell adjustable trac bar w/ zinc plate. It is a Thurens Trac Bar. The only suspension kits that has a trac bar apart of the kit is the higher end KORE and Carli suspensions.

Funny this post came up... I came to this forum for product research, but the more I read these posts the more I come to realize its all about who talks crap about who. Its not who has the better product for your needs. I saw this happen in other forums so I don't know why i'm surprised to see it here.

Fast Tommy I cant even tell if your question is for real or just a another promotion.

I look forward to the comparison test..... I think!

I think for the money the Lorenz setup cant be beat. I have the 2.25 with full replacement dual purpose leaf springs. This system rides awesome! I have done some fast off roading for about 20min and didnt get any kind of fade and I was hitting some pretty good bumps and woops. The 2.25 works for me because ya I use my truck hard but I dont need to run more than maybe an hour in the rough stuff which this can do quite easily. I think the key to the rear end feeling so awesome is the full leafs, huge difference.
