keyed hot (cigar lighter) location
keyed hot (cigar lighter) location
I'm trying to find the cigar lighter power wire to tap for my pyro power, the diesel manor install guide sheet and many threads on here talk about this PINK wire with a yellow trace. I even put on my glasses and cant find it
, is it mabee a different color on an O3 model, or do i need new glasses.
The rest of the install has been a great success thanks to many great threads on here. All thats left is the pyro power wire and finding the ***** to drill my manifold pre turbo and im done.
thanks once again for all you're help as usual, hope one day i will have learned enough to help someone else out for a change.

I'm not a 100% familiar with the '03's...
but the cigar lighter on my '06 was labeled under the fuse/relay box under the hood...
Go to the parts store and get a fuse tap...(they have one's for regular ATC fuses, and one for mini fuses).
They allow you to "steal" power from another keyed hot source, without interrupting anything.

I'll second that - the console comes off pretty easily, and is by far the best approach - I wasted a fair bit of time trying to fish that wire out first... one thing I do remember is that the wiring color codes on my '05 were not as listed in the pyro instructions... a wiring diagram can be quite useful in such situations!
On the manifold drill, just be brave, and careful (!) - It's really not that bad. The mainifold is pretty tough, but just drill your pilot hole slow and straight and it'll go just fine. I had a bit of trouble finding a little pick-up magnet the right diameter to clean shavings out, but finally found one close enough to grind down a bit to fit, and that really did do a good job of getting the debris out.
Other thing that helps is a good quality tap handle!
Have fun - and remember, "Columbus took a chance, look where it got him!"

Thanks guys for the help, will remove the panel tomorrow and trace backwards, good call.
As for the manifold great idea with the magnet, so simple yet effective, of course i wouldn't think of that, boght new drill bits and tap tonight so no more excuses.
Thanks again.
