Get a fleetguard next time. The KN might provide great filtration but thats not what the Cummins people worry about.

The filtration is about the same as a Wix premium, Napagold, Pureone... But the case is very heavy duty... Overkill really unless you racing application or worried about puncture.

I've used K&N's on my '99, '01 and now on my '03. I've never had any problem whatsoever with the filter. In fact I like it primarily because it has the welded nut on the bottom that I can use with a socket on an extension.
