Just changed fuel filter????
Just need some reassurance here...
I just changed my fuel filter. I replaced the factory filter with a Fleetguard Premium FS19800E from Geno's(awesome place!!!!). I noticed when removing factory filter that the design was not exactly the same. The factory filter was a Stratapore by Fleetguard. It had a solid metal top and base, very sturdy look and feel. The new filter was just that...just a filter, no top or bottom metal.
Did I mess up????
Should I have bought Stratapore filters instead or is this just the difference in 7 micron and 10 micron???? I remembered someone here asking the question about the loose fit of the new vs. old filter, but couldn't find the thread.
Install was a breeze and had no leaks when done. Primed the canister with 4 key turns and 1 crank. The truck started right up, everything seems fine. Just curious about the filter choice. If the FS19800E is the filter to have then why such a different fit and look???
It almost seems to be a lesser quality, but don't know. Again just looking for some guidance from the more qualified people here. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

i think the key here is the "E" on the part number. it is more enviromentally friendly when it comes to disposal. they can be completely incinerated to dispose of it.. as long as the filter seals well on the stand pipe, it will work well

I just did the same thing with the same filter from Geno's... comparing the two I was concerned with the difference, but it fit snuggly over the stand pipe and the media is the same (or better since it is 7u vrs 10u) only the top and bottom are different.. as was said earlier, I think this was done for the environment...
