i think its a good looking truck, i skipped the mega cab because the dually wasn't available at the time. still liking the longer bed i have, the short bed limits my option when towing my 5er
i can put the transfer flow and tool box in the bed and still have room for the 5er and three days of campfire wood

Start with the frame. They didn't want the expense of making a longer frame so what do they do?? They stick the short bed on a frame meant for a long bed and fill the extra space by making the cab HUGE. "Sure, it looks stupid, but we'll just market it as being the biggest, baddest cab ever made and people will jump all over it."
Now they want a dually, but they do not have a short bed made for dual rear wheels. What do they do? They take the standard short bed and retrofit some ugly fenders on it to make it work. "Sure, it looks stupid, but we'll just market it and say we did it to bring back the retro look of the first Dodge dually trucks and people will jump all over it."
IF Dodge had done this right, they would have made the frame 12-15 inches longer and given us a true crew cab (no mega cab) and kept the 8' bed. It's all about money though. They've been criticized for so long for not offering a full size crew cab. This was there way of getting a full size (and then some) crew cab without the cost of lengthening the frame. Personally, I'd be surprised if they ever offer the mega cab with a long bed.
From seeing the reactions, it appears that people either love it or hate it. While the hugely oversized headlights and that ugly rear pillar aren't as hideous to me as they were when I first saw them, when you combine all of that with a short bed the whole truck just looks WRONG...like someone's back yard creation that they came up with using spare parts that they could find.
While I can somewhat see why folks would buy the mega cab SRW, the idea of making a short bed dually just seems plain stupid to me.
I think I'll pass. Are the regular crew cabs still available or is the mega cab the only option in '06? Surely they're not doing away with the long bed completely??
Now...having said all of that...the more I look at it the more I like it.

Looks like most of you want a Ford Superduty Crew Cab short bed. It seems to me Dodge innovates and takes chances more than the other two. Sometimes they have a hit, other times not so much. But if you want the same old same old, you have your choice of Ford or Chevy.

yes........that pic is much better!!!
needs to be longer though. that don't look like an 8ft. box.
maybe add another rear diff so we could lock the diffs together for some awesome burnouts!!!! oh and we need the taylor wing on the roof too.

This truck looks terrible, that pillar & cheap looking fenders got to go. And 50k for a truck? Man, something wrong with this world. They were too expensive when I bought mine.
