I pull a 5th wheel so I have a flush mount toolbox . Acording tt the owners manual I "must use Mopar toolbox brackets" to mount the box? Huh??? In my 96 truck I just screwed it to the bottom of the bed. Is there something different about the 05 truck beds?

I think the sheet metal is getting too thin for securing toolboxes with screws. I used bolts with large backup washers for mounting.

It sounds as if Dodge may be playing CYA in this litigous world of ours. My over the rail tool box has one sheetmetal screw on each side.

 

I have seen at least one truck that had the sides distorted and didn't have the supports...

 

Mine is an over the rails and is held down with one sheetmetal screw on each side. No problems what so ever.

 

Ron, I have a flush mount tool box in the bed of my truck and pull a 5th wheel. I drilled four holes after I had it where I wanted it and mounted it with 4 - 1/4"X1" bolts and lock nuts with washers. So far it is doing fine. There is a picture of mine in my gallery.
