injector flush

I have a 2003 SO CTD, I just got a notice from my dealer that they want me to come in for a injector flush and throttle body inspection. I am at 25,000 km, 16,000 miles. Is this time for a flush of the injectors? Or they trying to put there hand in my pocket?

Um, your diesel has no throttle body!

Me thinks the dealer has no clue what you bought

I would call them and tell them to show you the throttle body, then laugh in their face.

Chris

But only if it's on their dime, of course

When I searched throttle body I found tranny stuff. My first thought was what? I phoned another Dodge dealer and he said what your saying.

I am up for a fuel filter and axle fluid changes my dealer must have thought that I own a gasser.

I guess I will have to check the manual, I do change the oil every 5000 KM and want to look after the beast.

Is there a recommended fuel injection service time?

Both the fuel filter (especially the fuel filter) and diff fluids are very very easy to change - I suggest you do it yourself so you know it's done correctly. The fuel filter change takes approximately 5 minutes which includes time to paper towel up any drips...it's so easy.

You 'service' your fuel injectors by replacing them whenever they fail - until then, don't worry about them

What about fuel additives for keeping them clean?

Using clean fuel will keep your injectors clean. They get cleaned several hundred times a minute when you are driving your truck. Fuel additives have been known to 'clean' dirty injectors, but most people use fuel additives for lube purposes and to keep fuel from gelling in the winter.
