I have had it with my 06 Dodge!!!!!
Alright, I have had it with this dern truck. The Cummins engine I love, no problems with it. I have had the tranny rebuilt at 3500 miles. I have had to have the output driveshaft bearing replaced at 3000 miles. I had to have the shift lever cable and parking paw replaced at 3800 miles. I have had the check engine light come on 5 times and today at 5750 miles the light comes on for the 6th time. I am so ****** that I spend 40k for a truck that can not hold it's value for 40k. Now the Cummins like I said I love. I am honestly considering getting rid of this truck, I'll keep the cummins powerplant, the rest to me is useless. Of course it's still under warranty, but I still pay something (fuel to get to the dealer, 1hour to get there.) I have just had it.

Basic lemon law here says 3 times for the same problem or 30 days in the shop in first 12 months or 12,000 miles. And it's fairly clear what their obligation is. There is a formula to figure out the mileage 'usage' that will be deducted. If you go for a new truck, you don't have to pay tax and title all over again like you would if you take cash and go buy something else.
I had a Dakota once upon a time that was similar to his Ram.. it wasn't a "lemon" because something DIFFERENT broke everytime. Though it was quite funny that while the tech was test driving it after replacing the rear end, the power steering blew up.
Dodge eventually bought it back after I made myself a pain in their ***. I built a website based on my documentation, with details and even a message board. I managed to get Yahoo to list it 1st, above Dodge's own site when a search for Dodge Dakota was done. It became quite popular. I sent the stats to the regional service rep, and they offered a buyback or striaght up trade for a new truck. I went for a new truck, I was able to add some upgrades at factory cost. Like going from the V6 to V8 for $105.
No lawyers, no bodies to hide.. I actually felt like I won.

I just dropped off my truck at the dealer, the tech says "yeah, we've been getting alot of these 06's in for check engine light and the battery sensor." Well they run a diagnosis check, tech comes back and says the diagnosis came back "nothing" and they will have to try to re-diagnosis the truck, That I might get it back tomorrow.
The other problem I'm having is I'm in the Marine Corps and in exactly 3 weeks I'm getting stationed back on the east coast, driving cross country pulling a trailer with my family
So trying to work this Lemon law thing right now is going to take some time. But when I do get to my next duty station, I believe I'll be on the horn with DC about all these issues, I've been having. Now I have been in contact with DC with this truck from the other issues I've had with it and have a case number.

My 06 has had the CEL light come on a couple of times. I took it in and the tech told me that if your CEL is not blinking then it is not a big deal. Mine was the battery sensor rationallity sensor that was causing all the problems. Now when it comes on, I just erase the codes with my bullydog down loader and all is well again. Were it dosn't have any afect on thr performance of the truck. I would't be to concerned about it. I know dodge will come out with a fix shortly.
Are these 06's early build? There's a TSB dealing with some of the issues mentioned in this thread. I just had the TSB done to my early build 06'. Fuel mileage is up. I'll know exactly how much late this weekend. The TSB also deals with long crank time.
I'm at work and don't recall the TSB #.

I had my 06 in for the high idle feature and asked about the hard start tsb. They said they did it to the shop truck and an employees truck and it made it worse so I had them skip it until it is worked out. AZ in May at 100 degrees have anything to do with it?
