I guess we don't count...

Just saw a Chevy Duramax commercial on tv. Same ole stuff... dually pulling something... going uphill... then offroad stuff... then "Makes more torque than Ford's Superduty"...

What about Dodge? Did they forget about our beloved Cummins???

I guess we are in a league of our own

Marketing. Pure and Simple.
Ford must have spent a few Million more than DC. Heck , they even had me thinking I needed a Super Duty for a while there........

Naaah, I'll stick with ol' clackety clack!!

The funniest ad I've seen is a Ford ad in my most recent Cabela's mag. Says they have the longest lasting, most reliable diesel pickups on the road. In really really tiny print it says it's due to having to most vehicles registered nowadays.

I love marketing. Like all the dealer in Austin says that they are number 1, but they don't say number 1 in what. Or, we have the best deal in town, yah for them, haha. It just goes on and on. The manufacturers advertise their negatives so they sound like a positive. It's great reading between the lines.

That sounds right..... they are afraid of the truth. I think Dodge ought to let em' know what the truth really is..... If you want the best pulling truck, CTD is the one. PERIOD.

What kills me is that the Ford commercialls down here will show a FORD truck doing the usual (hauling stuff, pulling a trailer, doin some offroad stuff). And in the end they will say it has the "Powerstroke engine with class leading torque". FRAUD!! How they can get away with this? Well, they get away with it because they do put the Powerstroke in the Ford Vans, and compared to the competition (Dodge Sprinter and Chebby) they do have the class leading hp (which is around 230 -> Ford detunes the powerstroke for the vans). However, they will say all of this while showing a FORD truck, misleading the average joe blow.

If you want to know how they can get away with it read a book titled "I can sell you anything" by Carl Wrighter. It explains every question you could ever ask.

Just be happy that you know better.

The one I've seen is a little bit different in that it states "The 6.0l PSD is the longest lasting diesel engine". Then is fine print it states "Based on vehicles still registered from '94 to current". Talk about an outright lie. The 6.0l hadn't even been a thought in someone's head back in '94. I think Ford is the absolute worst when it comes to lying in their ads.

Kinda like saying "Makes more torque than a Honda"
No way Chevy is going to say in a comercial that Dodge has a better engine.

If you watch ford, they usually include EVERY size of truck in their "most reliable" statements.
