First I would like to say this is a great site,I have learned alot here. I have been lurking here for a few months now. I have always had Fords as work trucks. Found all the info I could ever want for ford's on thedieselstop.com including not to buy the new 6.0. So I researched dodge And Chevy,eliminating the Chevy Duramax early on. The first problem I had to deal with was with the Dodge, theres no SRW 3500 regular cab, so I decided on DRW.
Next problem, no chasis cab and no box delete. After all this I still went with 3500 DRW and ordered it on Saturday. Monday I call Reading truck body who I have been in contact with getting info on the utility body details for the Dodge and ordered it. Today the guy at Reading calls me and says, on the 2004 DRW Dodge, we can't remove the pickup bed because Dodge won't let us. He tells me on the 03s you can but not the 04s. Anyone here heard this? Sorry so long but I'm frazzled. :-

I don't know it what they told you is true or not, but I think my local dealer here in MD still has a few '03 Duallys left. Let me know if your interested and I'll pass you my salesman's name and number.

 

I heard that if you order the bed-delete on an '04, it automatically makes it a single rear wheel truck. Can't get a bed-delete with duals. That goes along with what your bed guy is saying. BTW, i heard the earliest a chassis cab would possibly be out is mid-model year '04.

 

Is he saying "Dodge won't let us" because of warranty concerns??? or because of something else?
So much for the tow truck industry if that is the case... ???

 

This is what the Dodge Rep told the dealer its some sort of legal reason. I could buy the truck take the bed off then go buy the body and put it on.The salesman at Reading Bodies said they can't do it because they would not be able to certify it.I Guess Dodge don't want to be competitive with Ford and Chevy.
