more on scotty's conundrum
in the ORDER DATE thread, scotty posted:
and we all reasoned (at least I did) that this date must have been expressed using the European convention of dd/mm/yy, for how else would an engine built on August 3 make it into a truck shipped on August 2.
But hold the phone. My Engine's date of mfg is 08/11/03, which clearly must be expressed using the U.S convention of mm/dd/yy, since I'm driving my truck now and November is still in the future. So my engine clearly was built on August 11, and not the 8th of November.
What this means for your truck, Scotty, I have no idea. maybe you're right -- they forgot to put the engine inside!
The tag on the engine said; Date of MFG 08/03/03
So that got me to wondering...is that August 3 or 8th of March?
Reason I am wondering is DC said my ship date was August 2/2003. Maybe thats why it was taken off the train for quality Audit...the engine was missing.

Re:more on scotty's conundrum
The 24-valve engine in my '98.5 was built 12/27/97 so that pretty much answers that
Your door label tells you the exact hour your Ram rolled off the assembly line too. Look at the door sticker where it says "MDH." The number following that reads Month, Day, Hour that it rolled off. For instance 052215 means it came off May 22nd at 1500 hours (3:00PM) in the builder's time zone.

Re:more on scotty's conundrum
Now why in the world would someone want to know (and record) the [glow=blue,2,300]hour[/glow] a vehicle was pushed off-the-line?!! ???
Anyway, mine is 062715 -- Gad Zooks! a car made on Friday, just before closing. I'm in for trouble.
