HVAC/temp control lights

On my '07 I have the dual climate control. On the temperature slides, there is a white indicator molded in there, and looks the same as the fan **** indicator. These seem like they should light up?? Are they supposed to?

Mine don't light up. When I got mine I thought there was something wrong also, but they are not supposed to light up.
