I have an 04 (see sig below). So it's almost 5 years with the original batteries. I usually replace stock batteries at this time, just don't want to trust a 5 year old one during the winter, or when off hunting.

However since these beasts have two, maybe I should just let it go awhile. Or maybe replace one battery. Any thoughts, experience on this? If one goes, will these start ok on the other battery?

Anyone have any experience with these?

 

Never replace just one battery, always replace both at the same time. If you have gone 5 yrs on the same batteries you are running on borrowed time...I would definitely recommend changing them out. I plan on replacing mine at 4 yrs, if they last that long. When you consider the alternate of being stuck out in no where and having to call a tow truck in the middle of the night...less hassle and save money by being proactive.

 

Still running the originals in mine. The batteries are 6 years old now.

My batteries are originals also, no problems, voltage holds good and charges good. I also run my stereo sytem alot with the truck off, still seem to be fine.

 

I just checked the date on mine and they are also the original factory batteries (2004).

The voltage is perfect and I do not have any starting issues.

I have heard of the stock set lasting 7-10 years.........

 

My batteries are also stock and the truck just turned 4 two months ago. They are holding up fine.

 

My buddy has a 2001 Club Cab and his batteries are the original ones pushing 7 years and they are strong no problems !!! " YET " But he is changing them out in the fall to get ready for plow season , he even said he has been pushing his luck with them !!!!!

At the first hint of failure they are gone. But not before then. Money could be spent elsewhere. I am resourcefull enough and knowledge able enought to know when. Stretching and gambling at the same time. A calculated risk.

 

I have a 2003 Ram 3500 with original batteries. If your not having problems, save your money.

I recently changed the ones out in my 01, only because I was getting nervous about their age.

 

Orignals in my 03. My 1998 1500 went 7 years.

 

When modern batteries get this old, they typically fail with a short in a cell or two. No warning, just suddenly no start. Will this take down both batteries, or does dodge isolate them? Will the truck start on one battery?

The original equipment batteries seem to last a long time, 6-7 years. Replacements less.

 

You can have the same problems with brand new batteries. Save your money until you start having problems.

 

Especially if your getting them on sale for $30. One went after a year and a half. So instead of monkeying around with a new factory, I went ahead and got two dry cells. They like the hot summers and cold winters much better!!
