How Do I: Install the Mopar Security System (Alarm)
I got the last '07, 5.9 (auto) long bed on the lot. It has the key-less entry but no security alarm. How hard is it to install?

Be very careful when adding any electrical accessories on the 06 and up the TIPM is not very forgiving,and I don't think you will be able to get much warranty assistance with a bunch of aftermarket stuff piled on it.

Is the "Sentry" key different than the two big, fat-headed, three-button key that came with the truck (as well as the rather stern warning about not loosing the key as the replacement cost is $$)?

I've never had any warrenty issue because of an alarm system on any of my trucks
My 06 came the same way and I bought the security alarm from the dealer, the 06 part # 1-82209694.
The alarm directions were very well written, and included exact info on taking out the insterment cluster including where every screw was that had to come out.
The alarm is in series with the security start module on the columb and then another harness gets spliced into the harness at the back of the cluster, these connections are for each door lock, and to the horn wire under the dash.
The directions say to tie strap the alarm module to something under the dash, but I chose to use self tapping screws and attached it to the knee panel brace under the columb, It also has a reset button that I tucked under the dash out of site.
I also soldered the wires at the back of the cluster, by center splicing the wires as the directions sugested. (this was the slow part of the install as I did not want to CUT the wires or use those little blue wire taps that clamp on to the wires)
Finaly I installed the LED right between the steer wheel and 4 way button centered on top of the columb. (small but very visable at night from any window). Put it all back together and tested as per the directions.
When done the alarm arms and disarms with the original Key Fob or if you can arm it by using the door lock switch, either way there is a 30 sec. delay in arming signaled by the turn signal lights flashing once when armed, then the LED flashes slowly after that wile armed.
The alarm triggers with motion, or doors opening and sensitivity is adjustable.
Time spent was 2-3 hours I took it apart 1 night after work and did all but the soldering, then the next night the soldering, reasembled and tested.

I just had my 03 broken into on Tuesday and its at the dealer getting the glass replaced on the drivers side. I have the factory alarm and keyless entry. I also have the Lojack installed but I decided to go ahead and add the Ravelco yesterday. What are the adjustments you can make to the factory alarm?
The rat bastard who broke the drivers window never opened the door. He just reached in and rummaged around and left a forking mess.
. He even left a little blood trail where he cut himself. I dont think the factory alarm will protect against glass breakage. Is that true?
So what is the best alarm out there with remote start, glass breakage, and remote warning. I dont really want sirens and stuff. I dont think it works anyway. I was thinking maybe tear gas.

The 06 factory alarm has a motion sensor that will trip if the vehicle is rocked, bumped into ect.
I can set it off buy pushing or bumping any door or window, the motion setting is adjustable and can be quite sensitive so even a moderate breeze will set it off, even my 9 year old niece can set it off by climbing onto the rear bumper.
I know when my neighbor gets home from riding his Harley because my truck honks when he drives by my truck, but the alarm will only honk once not trip fully.
Edit: A guy at work has an 05 that he installed an after market alarm into it has remote start and 2 way remote, with a battery backup in the truck.
When using the remote start it will unlock the doors start the engine and relock the doors so no one can walk up and drive it away. I don't think the factory remote start will relock the doors when remote starting.
I don't know what brand he has but I can ask him in a little while when I go to work, and will post tonight.

I installed the factory alarm in my truck - EVS. It took me about 4 hours (with lots of interruptions). The most time-consuming part is taking all the trim, etc apart. It came with great installation instructions, not difficult at all. If you can install gauges, you can install the alarm system.
It is TRULY sensitive as far as motion detection/vibrations, etc. It is adjustable for these things to tone it's capabilities down a bit, otherwise a WHOLE LOT of HORN HONKING goes on. Parking in truck stops I use the valet mode, the trucks are too loud and vibrate the ground too much, lots of horn honking again.

I just finished the physical install of the factory alarm for my 2007 5.9 and having a small problem programming the unit. If anyone has experience on this or suggestions, please let me know.
When following the instructions to program:
1. open door...check
2. turn ignition to 'on' position...check (i assume they mean 'run' position, but not starting the truck'
3. hold the programming/override button for 10 seconds and the parking lights flash 3 times...check
4. press and release the programming/override button and get 4 flashes...check
---now is where things don't work---
5. pressing the door lock button on the door or the key remote do nothing, pressing the unlock button on the key does flash the parking lights twice. I have both original keys, plus a third cheapo I bought on eBay and successfully programmed myself. I tried various combinations of keys in the ignition vs keys on which i tried the lock/unlock.
I initially used quick connect wire taps instead of the center-splices. I suspected a bad connection, so just finished converting all to center-splices and even solder. As I did this, I reconfirmed all the wires/colors/etc. I do have the keyless entry set up to only open the driver door on single unlock press, two presses opens other doors. My truck came factory with the keyless entry buttons on the key, so I followed the EVS I instructions.
Some suspicious observations.
1. I notice that the lock/unlock buttons on the door do not work anymore
2. After installation and re-connecting batteries, I can hear the alarm unit doing a bunch of clicking, like relays kicking on and off.
3. Some time back I was wanting to disable the horn honk on keyless entry 'lock', I was unable to use the instructions in the owners manual, so dealer had to hook the truck up the the computer and do it.
4. I do have a diablo predator programmer on the performance tune.
5. The installation manual goes right into 'system programming' right after everything is connected and before re-assembly. Is it possible dash items and switches all need to be connected for the programming to happen?

I was only able to get the lock buttons (both on the doors and on key remotes) to work after re-installing the dash gauge cluster. lock button is needed for programming steps, which is now in progress

Where are you guys picking this factory alarm system up from? local dealer? i did some various searches on dodgeparts.com and mopar.com and google and eBay and didn't come up with anything for my '08.
When I ordered my truck in April, I had the dealer install the factory Dodge remote start. I don't know if it included an alarm or not, because my truck came with one. But Dodge did sell a stand alone alarm. Installed, it added just over $400 to the price. It came with two keys, so the dealer re-programed the original keys at no cost.
