Honda Rubicon and Mega Cab

New to the Forum. So hello and thanks to the forum owner(s) for providing it.

My question is, does anyone know if a Honda Rubicon will fit in the back of a Mega Cab with the tailgate up?

I currently have a long bed Dodge, but about to switch over to a Mega Cab and frequently carry the ATV in the back.

Also, considering the Dually Mega Cab. I pull a trailer very frequently during the week. Any pros and cons I should consider with either the Dually vs the regular truck?

Thanks in advance,

Keith

My Polaris Sportsman fits in my QC shortbox so you should be good there. As far as a dually versus a single wheel goes it all depends on the weight of the trailer. The Mega dually has a considerable less GCVWR than the QC dually does. So, that's one thing to think about but the dual wheels will provide a little more stability. I've had both but the trailers I pull these days only warrant a single rear wheel. I only pull a max trailer weight of 10k and the singles do fine. So it really comes down to looks. I wouldn't mind a dually Mega with 22.5's on it. I think they look killer. Then I would have it stretched to a long box.

Is the mega shorter than the 6.5' bed on the QC?

Wow, looks like your Rubicon is 83" long. Guess it won't fit.

Send your Mega here to get stretched. http://www.megacablongbed.com/

Get a bed extender and leave the gate down.

You should have no problems fitting your ATV in the bed. I have an 06 polaris sportsman and there arn't any problems with mine.
I have the dually mega cab and wouldn't trade it for anything. It is a really long truck and other than looks, probley not much difference between the dually and single to me.

Newer Sportsmans do not fit in a shortbed

Just for the record, a 2007 Sportsman 700 will NOT fit in a 3rd gen shortbed. Not even close.

My 2000 Sportsman 500 fit... just barely- that is unless you hit a driveway too fast. Now I have an aftermarket rear sliding window to prove it.

Yeah, I had a 2000 Sportsman 500 HO and a 2000 X'plorer 400 and they both fit with the gate closed. Both are gone and I have a 2008 Rhino 700 EFI now and a 2006 Yamaha 450 Kodiak. The Kodiak fits easy with the gate up and about 8-10 inches to spare. Obviously the Rhino doesn't fit at all.

Thanks for the feedback.

Where's the best place to get a Bed Extender for a 2008 Mega Cab?

I found mine on Craigslist for a $100. It's a Westin brand. Other than that, I think most of the truck accessory sites have them. Google "Bed Extender + Dodge Ram" or something like that and you'll get a bunch of hits.

I like the looks of the Dually.

Anyone seen any big difference in MPG in it vs the single wheel?

Thanks again for the feedback. Just trying to make a decision based off of good information.

My 06 Rincon will not fit in the box of my MegaCab with the tailgate closed. I just load it backwards, leave the gate down and tie down the ATV. The weight of the ATV (front wheels loaded backwards) is actually in the box, it just that the gate won't close.

As for the dually, if you ever intend to pull a heavy fifth wheel, then get the dually. Otherwise I would stick to the SRW, my truck in the SRW is already a pain to park, a dually would be impossible as a daily driver.
