Holy thin paint Batman!!

I'm at the gas station fueling up and placed a small bottle of Power Service Diesel Kleen (grey bottle) on the bed rail, held it on the rail while I untwisted the cap, looked and noticed many new small scratches to the white underneath!!! come to find out there was sand on the bottom of the bottle!!! How come DC makes a piece of equipment that can move a mountain, but gets damaged by a piece of sand.

depressed (and now scratched)

I know other people have this same problem, has anyone had resolution with DC on this... I'm afraid to go near my truck with my keys in my hand or a simple jacket with a metal zipper on it b/c it will scratch it clear to the undercoat!!!

I agree. Seems to me the only ones happy are the body shops and the DentWizards of the world, all seem to love it. No cracks when they knock out the little dents. Like I've said here on other posts, I don't like the thinner metal nor the thin paint and it's the same on everything that I can afford.

I've seen LineX on rocker panels on several trucks. Everybody has been happy -- no rock chips. I saw a 3rd gen on http://www.roadarmor.com and I swear it must be LineX'ed from top to bottom. Does anybody know if it is? It's the black truck with the over the hood guard on their site.

I was very lucky. DC gave me a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty on my paint. I guess the 03's had such a huge paint problem with primer showing through the paint that they gave some of the Ram owners an upgraded paint warranty.

that gets me too, the paint scratches so easy and it is BRIGHT white underneath. My bed looks like crap with all that white showing through the blue paint.. Other wise I am pretty satisfied with the truck.

Ok I have to say this. Dodge paint SUCKS I had a 2003 Ram 1500 QC SLT for about a year. The first week I started seeing scratches and swirls that would not buff out. If you just looked hard at the D@M thing another scratch appeared. I traded it on my current Dodge 2500 and this paint is worse than the 2003.

I owned GM/Chevy trucks for 35 years before these and the paint was better, PERIOD. The last '96 Chevy truck I bought new in '95. It never saw the inside of a garage and got washed maybe monthly and waxed yearly. After 8 years the paint looked better when I traded it in than either of the Dodges did after a month.

My biggest complaint about Dodge trucks so far is the @%#$@! paint.

I'll still say I think the paint on all new stuff is about the same.A 96 and a 05 etc.is not apples to apples.I own a 98 1500 slt and paint still looks new on it.Its a dark red.Wax it a couple times.Mainly it goes through a auto car wash.Stiil looks great. My 03 paint seems ok with it.Now the D.C.dark blue I would not be happy with.Seen them on the lots with white showing through in cracks and edges etc.I handled Cadillac back in 90 through 94 and lots of thin paint.Primer showing through etc.The G.M.rep use to say They were WORLD CLASS AUTOS.Yea Right! There is a tool to measure paint thickness. Most all body shops have them and there is a standard.Wonder if anyone has or would do a study on paint thickness of differant makes and models?
