Hiding wires for Audio Amplifier

Hey guys, I'm trying to run some wiring (power, ground, trigger, line level speaker wires) from the front of the vehicle to the amps location behind the back seat. How/where do I hide the wiring? Under the carpet seems like the logical place, but I'm not quite sure how to get the carpet up.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can pry the trim on the carpet edge up and tuck it under there .Might be a good idea to put the power wire for the amp in a split loom for protection.

I agree, go under the carpet by pulling up the footplate trims, to get past the back seat you may have to go up the rear pillar also.

Great - thanks guys. So it sounds like you're saying if I pry up the plastic (door sills / kick plates) I will be able to get the wires under the carpet.

Appreciate the help.

I know this may make it a little more difficult, but make sure to run your RCA cable on the opposite side of the truck than your power wires. RCA wires can pick up electrical signals from the power wires and cause noise in your system. Also make your ground wire as short as possible. No more than a foot. This can also help eliminate noise.

Thanks Rock crawler - will do. I had read that elsewhere as well (the Crutchfield installation guide mentioned it). Sounds like good advice.

Its not necessary to do that if you wire loom the power cable and keep it at least 3 inches away from the RCA and remote. I have had mine setup like this for a couple of years now. And I have an amp on both sides, but they're under my seats. I agree with the ground part though, the shorter the better.

If I read right you are using Hi-Level or speaker level input to the amp? Why not get a line leveler and install it behind the head unit and run RCAs back.

CrashCade - I was planning to tap the speaker wires in the front door panel (as they attach to the mid bass door speaker) and run speaker wire back to a line leveler which I was going to put behind the back seat next to the amp. I was hoping that the sound quality of the subwoofer wouldn't be hurt too much with this approach, and it would prevent me from having to rip the center console / dash apart trying to get to the back of the factory head unit.

Do you think this approach is a mistake?

Thanks.

Why dont you just tap into the R/L rear door speaker at the back, the wiring should be right there running along the sill. Many amps have the ability to accept the line level signal so you dont even need a converter. For the sub your LLC will be fine but I would not suggest it for mids or highs. The sound quality of your sub is more dependant on the enclosure you put it in than anything.

Ratsun - I have the 7 speaker Infinity Sound System stock, and my understanding is that along with amplification, the system is set up with some "crossovers" from the factory. I believe the bass is directed to the speakers in the front door. That's why I was planning to tap there. I was thinking that if I tap the rear speakers, the bass frequencies may already have been filtered.

You may be right, I never had one of the newer ones apart to tinker with them. Many times the rear fill is full range since its just for the rear passengers but if you dont want to give it a try it will be best to play it safe and tap the front doors as you planned.
