HID Lighting Systems

Has anyone tried the new HID lighting systems for the 9007 series on the 04.5 ??? These headlights are absolutely horrible on these trucks. I noticed on the HID systems, you lose the high beam on all the kits I have looked at. Just looking for input on everyones thoughts and seeing if anyone has installed one of these kits on there new dodge

I agree that the factory headlights are somewhat dismal (dimsal?)

I replaced the stockers with some aftermarket and that was a 3% solution. I live deep in the national forest, so needed some real light.

Hence the Lightforce Strikers (730,000 candlepower). - see gallery. About $200 less installation. Lightforce also has HID (High Energy Discharge) but those babies are four figures for two of them.

I've not seen any HID bulbs for the stock headlight frames.

Brilliance is only part of the problem. I need to see well off the highway for those deer/elk/moose on intersecting trajectories.

I have found a system to replace the stock headlamps with HID bulbs, it comes with ballasts, ect. The only problem is you lose the high beams with the HID system. Just wondered if anyone has tried or know of this system.

Don't waste you hard earned money on HID (HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE) lamps for Trucks . for on you have to mess around with ballast and also the factory defusers won't work with hid lamps .. they need special defusers to make the light work properly .. got buy some high wattage bulbs and some bigger lamps for your fog lights instead !!and aim your light up a bit !!
Good luck

I put a pair of 100 watt HELLAS in the fog light openings and relayed to the high beams , two types are available spot and driving(forget the "fogs") Don't do this if you can't remember to turn them off ever or even occasionally. Even though they are not that bad,it's just not cool to other drivers. I had an 03 with factory fogs and I would like to attest that they were closer to VANITY lights than fogs and if I had put an timer on them they might have had a couple of hours after 28000 miles ! I travel alot in off hours and with this 75 dollar mod it is unbelievable what the differance is,no holes to drill either. These lights are on most of the time now and the bulbs are readilly available.

Try a bright box about 100 bucks from genosgarage.com. they link the high and low beam filaments together to make them light up at the same time while your switched to high beam work real well check it out.

Or just get a 5" lift kit. I get bright lighted all the time with my low/fogs on. They're actually brighter than the high beams now...

Genos' new-to-be-released Brite Box will enable High & Low & Fogs to be activated together, if wanted !!

DId you mount the lights to a frame member under the fog holes? I bought a pair of Hella 500s and am thinking about doing the same thing you did. How did you relay to the high beams? And does that mean you don't have to use the separate switch?
