The key thing that plugs in under the dash near the scan device is what I'm talking about. I'm installing my Quad & noticed this thing has 6 wires going to it. The thicker red & white wires are plugged in but the other 4 wires have been cut. Is this normal ? I bought my truck new a few months ago & wondering if this is normal or not. Thanx for a quick answer( it is haulting my install)!

You have a very cheap version of starter kill. It shouldn't be factory and the "key" just completes the connection for the starter wire. It is installed by cutting the starter wire and putting the 2 wires you see to each end. Hope this helps.

 

It is definetly factory. Every new truck I've seen has one, I just have never looked @ the wiring behind one 'till now. They come on just about every new auto you can purchase these days.

 

Am I the only person that has one of these? Maybe it was just the few dealerships around me that put them on. I could really use some more input on this. Thanx!
