Heating - A/C issue

My 03 RAM 3500 has developed a few problems I’d like to figure out.

The blower fan runs correctly at all speeds and the air get plenty cold. Sometime it works fine sometimes and sometimes it acts like the blend door is broke. I am thinking it is an actuator problem. I would like to know which actuator/ blend door would cause these symptoms.

Thanks

Vic

Sounds like it is freezing up and that is common for the 03'. Have the R134a level checked. It could be low.

During a recent two day trip from Alabama to Texas, it worked intermittently for 8 hours each day. If I played with the rotary switch, I could hear the air flow changing. Often it would start working. Like the blend door opened fully sometimes and got stuck others.

Also, when it works, it blows thru the vents as selected via the rotary switch. When it quits working, there is no air flow from any vents.

I don't think it was freezing up because it would flip between working and not several time in an hour. It would take longer than that for it to freeze and thaw.

If you get zero airflow coming out of the vents then it's freezing up. My '03 only did it about 4 times over a 3-4 yr period so it's very intermittent to say the least. Takes no time at all to thaw itself out and start working again. You're low on 134.
