Headlight Programming?

I read on here where someone had the Dodge dealer reprogram their lights using the Starscan tool so that the low beams and foglights will stay on when you turn on the high beams. Has anyone heard of that and is it possible to do? The original writer said it wasn't a common procedure and few dealers knew how to do it.

I asked the service manager at my local Dodge dealer and he hadn't heard of this, but he said he is willing to give it a try if anyone has the procedure documented so he can try it.

I know you can do it with an aftermarket device like BrightBox but I would prefer this other method if it can be done.

He has a 6.7L so there are no programmer's currently available. It is possible for the dealer to "activate" a high beam/low beam/fog light setting, though I do not know the exact procedure with the StarScan tool.

You may want to PM username Hayseed. He has had it done and can likely talk to his dealer and get the exact process for the StarScan tool.

No one has a programmer for the 6.7's yet I guess?
Only a matter of time though I imagine.

Hey guys you have to tell the starscan that the truck is exported to the selection "all other countries" then follow the menus. Exit out. Go back in and you will get an error that says ecm incompatable. Change the country code back to the original and exit. Everything is normal again except you retain the highbeam/fog combo. This is what worked for me but others have done it as well so they may have a different version. My tech and I were just flying by the seat of our pants.

Hayseed-Can you have your tech provide something a little more step-by-step? I'm not sure the info above will be enough to convince my local service manager on how to do this.

Really? I thought it could, I know for a fact the BDTD can do it, but not on the 6.7's...

Please tell me I'm wrong! There is nothing I would like more than for you to tell me I could do this with a Smarty....seriously - I'm not trying come off all sarcastic-like.

I don't know, I don't have a Smarty, but I thought it could do everything the BDTD can do and the some. After all, from all the comments and raves on here it IS the cat's patooty isn't it?

I see in your signature you've got a borrowed one, maybe try plugging it in and doing some clicking...? (With my TD there's a heading for "vehicle options" or somerthing.)
