Has a Real Door Seal Fix Been Canceled?

This AM I brought my 2004.5 into the dealer for replacement of the torn door seals under TSB 23-008-04 and the new seals seem to be the same as the originals. They said the part number from the TSB was referenced back to the original part number in the computer. Has anyone else had "improved" seals installed, or just the same type put in? They install the new seals, but I expect the same results!
They also did the computer flash for milage and trip computer error, and I immediately noticed MUCH less shake at idle and MUCH freer revving above 2000RPM. I will report on the fuel mileage results on the correct thread after a couple of tanks.

I called to set an appointment to have my drivers door seal changed under that TSB, and the service writer told me that the replacement seal was a different design. I haven't touched it yet but thats what he said.

I would like to encourage all 3rd generation owners to check thiers because I would bet they will all do it eventually. Only my driver's side is torn, but I am sure thats because that door is used MUCH more than the passanger side. The passanger side hits the seal exactly like the driver's side on my truck.

Mine just tore on the drivers side at 3000 miles. Looking at the way the door hits the seal, I don't see how ANY type of seal will stand up. Looks like a design flaw to me!!

Your thoughts?

I agree. The way my door digs in and rips at the seal I don't see how anything could survive. The absolutly amazing thing was that the service manager took me over to a new 2005 and opened the driver door and it didn't even touch the seal!!l . How can that be? It looks like it would take a change in door hinge geometry to make that happen If the 2005 has different door hinges than 2004 we know DC found the REAL fix that would cost more than supplying new rubber seals for the 2004 while under warranty.

Looks like my pass side is starting to get a tear, but the driver side looks ok. Strange. I'm at about 13,000 miles. Maybe I'll wait awhile longer to fix it ?

My 2003 seals okay except when there is a high crosswind or headwind.

I can actually feel the doors flexing in and out when I start getting wind noise. I don't think a different seal will help unless they make it thicker.

I've got a new seal. Looks exactly the same as the old, but doesn't grab/rub as much. Maybe it's not as thick?

It still gets really close, so maybe it's not the same as the '05. But it's a ton better than the original seal with tore within a month or two.
