Has anyone tried the Hankook ATM RF10 tires?

Seems like the only true E rated tire in a 285/70/17 size. It is also a 10 ply.
Heard good things about how it works, but seems no one has had them long enough to tell me how they wear.
It is fairly new to the market.

Thanks

Got right at 4,000 on mine and so far so good. They ride nice and grip very well in snow and mud so far. They are a heavy tire and you can tell why when you see them in person. Very well built by looking at the design. Time will tell.

Thanks for the reply.
They are the same size and revs as my BFG A/T.

How do they ride on the highway? Not all that impressed with my current on open highways.

Toyo and Nitto also have E rated 285s. Rated at 3750lbs per.

I don't consider those two true E rated tires. They don't have the tread ply and only hold 65lb psi, like most D rated tires.
The Hankook is 10 ply and hold 80lb psi.

I don't know about the other tires and their specs but like I said these things are heavy. I replaced a set of 265/70-17 dueler revo at tires and they weighed 49lbs I think. According to the Hankook salesman (couldn't find it online) these tires weigh a little over 61lbs a piece.

Just read a couple of reviews on tirerack.com about these tires. Not good reviews.

You better look again. Both the Toyo and Nitto are 10 ply rated and both are rated at 3750lbs at 80psi.

I ran some 285/70/17 Nittos on my truck for almost 2 years. I bought them for the same reason you are. They're an E rated 285.

Could you post that link because all I can find on tirerack is the old style RF08. this is a completely redesigned tire and not even close to the RF08 from what I understand from a friend who owns a tire store. he said so far this tire is night and day compared to that one. So if you did find an RF10 review on there I would like to see it.

Thanks

There is no review on these, because they don't sell them.

I looked at Toyo's website and I stand corrected. Problem is the Nitto and Toyo tires get bad reviews for tire wear.
Why did you only have them for two years? Did you get any mileage out of them?

The RF10 tire has been reviewed and compared to BFG and Nitto on several online magazines. They all said it was comparable with the others.
Problem is, all these reviews are on lighter vehicles.

Looking for real world data!

I've decided that getting any kind of tire review over the internet is a crapshoot at best. To answer your question,no I didn't get much mileage out of them. Right about 22k miles. On the other hand, I've read more than one review about a guy getting 45k out of them and never rotating them.

I've read more positive reviews than negative about the Toyos. The Toyos are also one of the few E rated tires with a milage warranty. They are warrantied for 40k.

Sorry about the hijack but I have about 14k on the Toyo's and wearing fine. Dropping the pressure down to 40psi on the rear when not towing helps. I should have no problem getting at least 40k out of these tires, even with the SMARTY cranked up.

SundayMoney,
Thanks for the feedback on those. I have about 54,000 on my BFG A/Ts right now, but was never really impressed with the highway drive. Worked great off road though.
What are you using now?

I know there is never a best of "both worlds", but I was looking for a tire that was A/T tire that was a little less aggresive (more highway friendly), wore well and didn't break my wallet.

If these Hankook wore well, I can pick up a set of 4 for around $750.
The Nitto are cheaper than BFG, but they seem to wear quickly. The Toyo gets better feedback on wear, but they are as much as the BFGs.

Dilemmas.....
